Guys I need help with my bluetooth. I have ibookg4.
I keep getting “bluetooth not available” message. In my system pref. under network I dont even have bluetooth highlighted anymore. everything was fine until yesterday! I dont know what happened. I searched the manual’s but no help and couldnt find anything online either. I hope someone here can help. I dont have any Mac help store here in my town. ![]()
not familiar with Apple system but in Windows we can get bluetooth icon in the notification area, if we go to Control Panel and double click on bluetooth devices and under Options check, "Show the Bluetooth in the notification area."
Its not the icon, I have that on my bar. It says that bluetooth isnt available.
I dont know what to do ![]()
^ It maybe a hardware issue, why don't you call to the vendor?

Re: Ibook Help, Please
look into mac forums ... or post there ...
Re: Ibook Help, Please
Unplug all the external devices (especially the USB ones), shutdown your IBook and restart it. This "bluetooth not being available" is a known problem for IBook. Mostly it happens due to the conflicts between Bluetooth and USB devices.
Hope it will help...

The only thing I had done was install a new printer. After the installation I disconnected it by ejecting first. When I first noticed the issue I immediatly thought of that and went all the way to unistall it. I have restated the laptop 10 15 time but still no luck.
One of the first things I did was to go to, ' mac helpers' forum. I wasnt able to find anything different then what the manual has. I havent posted on it yet.
Thankyou both for taking the time to try to help. I really appreciate it.

As you mention, this happened after connecting/installing the printer (which is most probably a USB one). This confirms the BT and USB conflict theory.
Just to make sure... did you actually disconnect the printer from your notebook physically and then restart it?
Which version of OS X are you running on it?

Yes I had done that.
BUT GOOD NEWS, I checked the mac-help site and one suggestion was that if all else fails then shut down and restart multiple times. thats what i did all morning and finally what ever was wrong is fixed.
Thanks to all of you who help me. I really appreciate it. Also if anyone else has any issues try mac-help site. you do have to search but it does give solution. Thanks. and hugz.

. The battery is full. I have tried leaving it alone and then turn it on but NOTHING. Its cold!! I am lost.
Re: Ibook Help, Please
^^ IF this is not due to some serious hardware failure, try this:
Take out the battery and discard the power cable.
After that insert the battery again and try to switch it on (assuming the battery is fully charged).
It may or may not help, you have nothing to lose anyway.

I am trying not to hoping something easier will fix the issue. I have too much stuff to copy/save if i end up doing that and laptop doent stay running to do that even in multi installments.
I will check out your links thu, thnx

It happens sometimes. IBook goes to standby mode and the "power" button stops reacting. The reason being capacitors responsible for soft reset are still charged. Many laptops suffer from this disease.
Only thing works is to discharge these capacitors by cutting power.
For the other issue your notebook is suffering right now, may be get the latest OS updates, perhaps that will help.
If you have already done that and it still doesn't work, then I would strongly recommend to read the Mac forums, perhaps someone has developed a workaround for that, :-)
