It depends. I dont know what they do but heres an example:
In the US system, people are graded on a curve meaning that you get a grade relative to other people in the course and not absolute scores (so you could have a 90 and still get B-). Assuming the other system you are looking at is based on absolutes (say an 80% is assumed to be an A) and your GPA of 3.95 is over 5.0 and not 4.0 then you may see how they could assume that you end up with scores of around 60% (which in the absolute marks system would equate to about B).
Anyway this is just a hypothesis since I dont know that they equate grades.
It was out of a 4.0 system...actually their formula for calculations is a bit sketchy..its on their website
its something to the effect of
A+=80
B+=70
C+=60
n then afterwards they deduct 10% to 15% from ur overall marks
when my colonel uncle went to go and appeal their decision, they admitted they didn't know what AP or Honors meant...and then later when i called them they said the transcript I had sent them was in the wrong format or some sorta bs like that...
I am not the only person this happened to..another distant relative had the same run-in with them...His family gave a little rishwat n poof..everything was set for him...now my family would NEVER stoop to that level
However, they did agree to fix it after the appeal but still...
Why not just give the colleges you are applying to the transcript you have here. Most often then not, schools over there would understand the grades here.
