Any one of you out here is applying for IBA graduate program from overseas. I am having a hard time getting through to these ppl as to how to go abt submitting my application n stuff. They dont even have the schedule online for the dates. Its like banging ur head against the wall.

i hope theyd respond promptly. the tests for fall session are held in around June.
Hope it helps.
Re: IBA Admissions
^ I am from UAE. I did email them but they take ages to reply back. I mean this is general info which shd b availabe on the site.
Btw have u studied from IBA. I need to know more abt the place, living conditons n stuff. How difficult is survival for someone whose never lived in Pak apart from the ocassional visits.
Re: IBA Admissions
good luck tryin to get in touch with them.. my brother tried and tried and tried.. they never replied.. dont think they know who to work computers...
we asked around since we have never lived in Pakistan eitehr.. we were advised against the move... a lot of politics come into play... i have cousins who go there.. ppl from abroad just take a very long time to adjust ... so if ure thick skin kind.. maybe u could do well.. my brother is very sensitive.. doesnt have teh desi chalaki in him... so didnt end up going...
Re: IBA Admissions
yeah i guess u r right... i think i should look out for the pigeons...
yeah its the karachi phobia which is getting to me.. plus i will have to live in a hostel, i wonder how hard thats gonna b , its already giving me the creeps... n i aint all that street smart to last even a day in kar, plus one has to even put up with the relatives.
The thing is that UAE dosent have good graduate schools, plus the few that are here arent worth the money , so i just didnt wanna throw the cash n not end up with anything worthwhile. I was a little too late to enroll for the LUMS graduate program. So my choices are very limited. ..:(
btw where did ur bro end up eventually...
Re: IBA Admissions
he's in the UK now..
u'll still be throwing money away by going to IBA.. its not what it used to be... i have ancient graduates from there, in my family, aswell as fresh ones.. huge difference...
have u tried The American University of Sharjah? I have a couple of friends going there and they are all praises.. they had the choice of going to a Uni in Pakistan and as much as they love the country.. they just couldnt study there.. atleast where they are now.. they dont have to go thru day to day politics.. they also admit the quality of education is great... i would say check it out :)
best of luck
p.s) actually.. if u DO have to move.. why not elsewhere like teh states, or england or canada etc... ?
Re: IBA Admissions
IBA aint that expensive the entire program is barely 6000 $ where as AUS is around 32,000 $
btw my siblings are currently pursuing there bachelors at AUS, n yeah they are happy with the quality of education.
Waisay that was the other option i had in mind , if things didnt work out with IBA. I am thinking of going through the entrance process and check things out in person. Get a feel of the place, and then make a decision. Man they have a gruesome entrance process, test, interview , group discussion n phir admission.. n than u know thats its all not worth it...
I think I should check whteher AUS accepts IBA cedits, so that i have the option of transfer if things dont work out...
My moms too skeptical of even sending me to Kar , I come from one of those over protective families. It took a lot from me to convince her that I can survive on my own, shes still counting on me not making through the entrance so i'd come back. So the WEST is a big no at my place, if i had that choice do u think i would even b considering these places... nah...
neways thanks a lot for the feedback... cheers
Re: IBA Admissions
hey love.. what did u end up doing?
Re: IBA Admissions
nothing, couldnt decide. So went back to working. In the UAE market expericene counts more in comparison to acaedmics unless ofcourse you are from ivy league.
Re: IBA Admissions
very true... oh well.. as long as ure happy with ureself :)
Re: IBA Admissions
now that my friend is a million dollar question. Am I happy with myself.. hmmm, does not being dissapointed with urself mean that ur happy... :-/
Re: IBA Admissions
Get in touch with some guppies in Karachi if you don't trust your relatives. Shouldn't be that hard.
