Ian Botham's mother-in-law in Pakistan !!

From JOHN ETHERIDGE

IAN BOTHAM has sent his own mother-in-law to Pakistan.

And Mrs Jan Waller, in company with her husband Gerry, seems to be enjoying herself.

Back in 1984, legendary all-rounder Botham joked that Pakistan is the sort of place to dispatch the mother-in-law on an all-expenses paid trip.

Beefy’s comments followed England’s 1-0 defeat in the three-Test series here the previous winter. It became one of his most infamous statements — and the Pakistanis did not forget.

When Botham was dismissed in the 1992 World Cup Final against Pakistan, fielder Aamir Sohail asked him mockingly: “Who’s coming in next — your mother-in-law?”

Botham returned to Pakistan himself last month for the first time in 16 years to commentate on the one-day internationals for Sky TV. And he immediately pronounced himself delighted to be back and touched by the welcome he received. Botham flies in tomorrow to commentate on the First Test.

Jan and Gerry Waller, parents of Beefy’s wife Kathy, will return to England next week after the First Test.

=============================================

Things have turned full circle for Beefy Botham. Once upon a time he couldn’t say a good word about Pakistan but these days he seems to be making genuine attempts to bury the hatchet. Sending his mother in law must count as the ultimate peace offering!

and LOL just saw botham’s mother-in-law on a shopping spree in lahore.With the catch phrase “Oh my son in law is paying for this” repeated at least twice at every shop it was a very funny production.(Shown in tea break on sky tv).
That is certainly the kind of mil a man like botham should have had.Man, that must be quite a family!
