The IAF is concerned about the number of pilots it’s been losing lately to a different sort of ‘enemy’. It’s not the obsolete Migs, not an enemy fighter, but the ‘economic factor’.
Apparently more and more young pilots that the govt and the air force spends a lot of time, energy and resources on, are slipping away and joining the commercial airliners, who are obviously hungry for well trained, fit and smart young men and are ready to pay them manifold along with lifelong luxurious benfits.
This has always been a cause of concern. Govt services ought to pay and benefit their employees in a competitive way as compared to the commercial sector.
Pakistani pilots are better skilled than Indian Pilots
Any country which is threatened with its existence like Israel and Pakistan always have fine quality soldiers to defend it and protect it
Israel and Pakistan have among the best pilots in the world for a reason
What the Germans developed in the 1940's in their blitzkreig invasions of Poland and France has showed that Pilots have to be skilled to deter potential invasions.
We need to start making our own fighters soon, JF-17 is a start but we need more advanced avionics...
India cannot make any of its own planes and relies on higher technology to negate the skill difference between pakistani pilots and indian pilots
thats why whenever pakistan makes a military purchases, india always makes a purchase but making sure its more advanced than what pakistan got...
that just shows the level of confidence India has in its armed forces...
Its a nice passionate post - more emotional in its judgement. Extendin your logic, I guess US has the least skilled pilots given that they probably have a lot more technologically advanced planes.
Actual judgement on which country has more skilled pilots will only be proven when the face each other I guess. And yeah, countries which have more adversaries seem to have better skilled soldiers coz law of survival of fittest comes to the fore then. As of now, I am not aware of any great specific reasons to claim either Indian or Pakistani pilots as being more skilled.
anyways, the thread is more about pilots leaving for better economic opportunities...this I guess is quite human and particularly. By the time you approach 30 I guess the josh and jasba of patriotism is overrun by economic needs of running family and wanting more luxuries. I feel this will hold irrespective of nationality. Just wait for aviation opportunities in Pakisan to increase and you may see the same (though you may wish otherwise)
with 50% of passenger aircrafts being manufactured in the world over the next decade ending up for domestic transport in india, such a situation is inevitable. if the IAF is smart, they'd recruit a whole bunch more of trainees at the NDA in the coming years, and up the payscales.
aunty bulbul baboo's primitive idea of providing land plots to IAF pilots reeks of feudalism. no such offer should be made. soldiers should be compensated in the same way any other government employee is compensated.

India has over a billion people...
Ofcourse India needs more planes to move them around the country
