I would like to use the word pre-emptive strike…i.e we force a war upon India before it is ready to fight, thereby we cut it to size before it has any significant advantage over our military.

Going by that logic, you neither cut India to size nor gained any significant military advantage. However, you did end up cutting your nose to spite your face
