I am little aware of some attempts of the history of computerization of Land Record .
A deputy Commissioner of Islamabad tried to computerize the Land record of Islamabad but he was transferred and his all struggle went in vain.
Same happened at Qasoor . A deputy Commissioner tried for and he almost completed it but he was also transferred and his all struggle went in vain.
Than UN tried for it . They pointed out corruption in land revenue record a bigger problem for Pakistan and they granted a big loan to Punjab in Mush era but nothing was done .
Now ShowBaz is trying for this .

It's about time I am hearing about the same since pervaiz illahis government, hence almost a decade.
Even they got a world bank loan ,a big amount and we will have to pay it .

About the Land Record Computerisation; the program was started by previous punjab government well before 2006; the Pilot project was completed in 2006 completing the Land Record Computerisation of some parts of Lahore; Tenders were Issued and process was started for Project Implementation; - But they seem to have lacked the 'intent' to proceed with the project with real pace so in one year from July 2006 to Aug/Sept 2007; not much was done.
The Program had some funding approved from World Bank; Thee current Punjab government resumed the Tender Process in first half of 2008 - Tenders were issued - Softwares/Databses were developed and the actual worked started with Land Record computerisation - ** The program was suppose to complete the Land Record Computerisation of 36 Districts of Punjab in 16 MONTHS - 4 Years ON and ONLY 30-50% work in ONLY 4-5 districts has been completed till date (which also included Lahore that was done as part of Pilot project) and that too most of it in the last few months once Supreme Court took up the case and pressured Provincial governments to show the progress and complete the project**
** At this pace the Land Record Computerisation of Punjab will take 76 Years to complete - This Shows the INTENT and level of WILL/Motivation current government has for the Project/Idea**
All offices records should be computerized and with strict restriction on paper transactions. A law can be passed in PAs and NA to be implemented with full force.

All of the land grabbers used to be in pervaiz illahis government, that's why he couldn't complete the work but now the land grabbers have spread out to different political parties, that's one reason and then they will lose control of patwaris. I think the work will keep going on cosmetically, a lot of political will is required to complete it.
Naturally, it is not advantageous nor in the interest for corrupt officials within the Military, Politics or even judiciary to computerise or even more importantly to main a workable record of land registry as those parties involved have purchased/stolen land for fun. Thus, when ever anyone tries to maintain some sort of order he/she is stuck off.
This is a major issue as personally experienced. My family total land area has been reduced by a large amount due to people paying off officials tasked with keeping records of land and transferring it into their own names. One of the many reasons Pakistani/Pakistanis make me sick. Pakistanis are also one of the worst people to do business with and to a certain extent Pakistan deserves the mess it is in as it has ended up in the dark hole due to its won merits.
