I was wondering if 3 idiots would have been this big a hit if not for Aamir khan. My answer is a big NO.
Raju hirani and VVChopra have produced better movies before. I think Munnabhai series was really good too but it did not attain the success of 3 idiots. Why?
I do think big stars draw the audience to the theater and Aamir khan has proved to be the biggest box office hit off late.

i personally wasnot into this film....just went with friends but i am glad that i went coz i loved it...however i dont think that amir is solely responsible for its greatness..he was good in his part but the film wouldnot have been any good without sharman, mahadevan, chatur guy and rajkumar hirani's creative direction.

amir khan is a versatile actor,who puts lots of hardwork and i think balkai damn sure if the movie had a simple not so popular cast ,it would be a flop:)

3 idiots was such a good movie. Amir khan did a wonderful job, he's really "Mr. Perfectionist". I don't think it would have been such a big hit without Amir although the script is also one of the major reason for it's success!!

I am great fan of aamir khan but in my honest reply, this movie could have been hit even without aamir khan. the key behind its success was director, writer, screenplay write RajKumar Herani who did marvelous job. For the first time, I felt that aamir was just an actor in the movie. he just acted.

well his role was pretty simple .. .. I can tell number of other actors who could have done the job. keeping my personal biasness aside, thats just one of the movie of aamir khan that i would say a typical bollywood stuff .. :)
even if you look at jokes - there were many jokes which were copied from other advertisements or such things. the movie was pretty predictable as well .. ..

the whole story was copied from a novel of chetan bhagat knows as 5 point someone .....n yes ur true it was not something really great .......im not a amir fan but i have to say that chatur was great too n madhavan too

true .. one more thing. people has always overlooked sherman joshi in his roles. I can remember that he did marvelous job in Rang Day Basanti. Then his role in Life in a metro and now 3 idiots. He was good too ..
