I was watching a Pakistani drama...

…dont know the name of it but it was on ARY I think.

The stories are so intertwined and complicated…so saas-bahu related ALL the time.

I havent actually lived there and when Ive gone, its just a visit for a limited time and then we’re back home.

Question is, does this stuff really happen there? Like all this drama really goes on? Or is it just for entertainment value? Is it a reflection of real life there?

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

huwa ki hai? lols.

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

Ask jhun jhun. She will tell you the truth :p

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

i dont watch pakistani dramas anymore. it used to take em 13 episode to get to some resolution or something good. and now after 50-60 episodes still sometimes u have no clue when these dramas will end. besides same actors can be seen in every other drama, which makes everything monotonous.

the only good thing about current dramas is they are using Khawateen digest stories (i.e. umera ahmed, riffat siraj, etc). there stories are gripping, tangible and have some substance in them. though i still prefer to read the story then to watch em dragging the story to some other ending (not the original one)

ps. reha, could you be specific about the drama or the story...i mean what is it about???

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

.
which drama are you referring??? I don't watch dramas any more because they are no more family entertainment. Drama's are becoming more glamorous and bold. But i know stories of few dramas so if you clear the confusion we could help

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

please say something minus jhun jhun.

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

Sometimes the basic issues addressed are real - like jahez, greedy in-laws, and the keencha-taani between saas-bahu etc but of course with lot lot lotsss of exaggeration.

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

dont watch ary tv/geo tv.

you can watch couple of good dramas on hum tv.

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama…

Like… i iz so innoshent.. halp me halp me.. :cu2:

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

Lol. I dun watch much tv especially pakistani dramas. But I guess, they show an exaggerated version of saas bahu issues. Average Pakistani families have saas bahu issues but not to such an extent which are shown in these dramas. Few cases can be found which are reflected in these dramas but these dramas do not represent the majority of the cases.

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

yeah..

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

Ure talking bout pakistan? My eyes pop outta my head at the stories i get to hear bout living in europe! Must be the villages that have uprooted and moved here...

Just when i thi k ive heard it all, a case pops up that makes me wonder if im really liing in a village in pakistan... (well europe is a village of sorts).

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

Psh. I know of situations that you'd swear came out of a drama (or a life1 thread) but life can be pretty complicated.

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

yeah :(

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

Pakistani drama's are insane! I find them to be really unrealistic because of the countless problems so no I don't think people in Pakistan lead their lives like that. But again,I've never lived there either

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

Wait till u watch Indian drama.... :)

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama…

How does this have anything to do with the thread?

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

My mommy says it's true...or at least based on real life =/

I mean judging from Life1...saas bahu issue is a big issue. Women are taught keh the other ghar is terrible, or their bahu is terrible. There is no room for neutrality I suppose.

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

Pak dramas these days are not only based on sas bahu material but also on some very important and critical matters of our lives ... they may not be exactly true stories but they portray the real picture goin on in all society in different aspects .... i watch pakistani dramas and i love them atleast they are lots better than any other media dramas

Re: I was watching a Pakistani drama...

Pakistani dramas are still a little more realistic than indian dramas lol.

But As you say we never know. We go to Pak for a few weeks and everyone seems hunky dory...maybe they do sharam as guests are visiting. But a lot of women in Pakistan do not work/keep themselves busy. I personally think that due to that women get bored and they get caught up in petty family disputes. An aunt of mine had a huge row with another aunt as she cooked dhaal instead of chicken one day to the extent she said she was leaving home.
