I can’t recognise different formats of Gurmukhi, but Gujrati is still written like ‘Hindi’ script. Some of our Gujrati friends can read Hindi as well.
As far as Jinnahbhai is concerned, its probably for ease. Many friends and nearer people to Mr Jinnah (including Ruttan Bai) used to call him ‘J’.
