I always wanted to. I have couple of ideas in my mind, some related to the field I work in and where there is a lack of knowledge base while some are really on very light subjects. And I also want to write some kind of a biography like what have I learned from life even if no one will be interested in them 
So what should be my strategy if some one can help me out or can give me some tips.
My bhai suggested to do some writing courses first from NYU and then start working on these projects.
I already have read a lot of literature to understand what should be the basic components of a book. I have written some papers and articles but writing a book is a totally different ordeal
Any ideas?

The basics of writing a book aren't as complicated as you may think. Though there are a few things you need to know before you get started, once you get to writing, it can be very difficult for you to stop once you establish some great momentum.

It doesn't matter how short or how long your fiction is, it is still a work of art that you produced from your creative imagination for the entertainment of others.
Watch your writing style. What this means is, if you are writing a book for the reader's entertainment, then do not make it hard. Using short paragraphs and a simple, conversational style will keep your readers happy. Write as if you are talking to just one person, say a friend. Yes , I agree with Striker … I know someone who is currently in the process of writing a book. He is an accountant by profession but took two years sabatical from work to write his book.
Few tips:
1- Think of a subject , research around it as much as you can. Once the subject is decided , dont budge on it. If other subjects interest you along the way, use them as your sub-subjects but dont move focus away from your main subject.
2- Its very important that before you start writing you have an entire plot in mind. Even if its an autobiography. If you dont do the plot before hand , you will lose focus and readers can sharply feel when the writer has lost their plot … its quite evident in the writing style.
3- Also the focus of the story … not just in writing , but even when telling a story, you must know how you are going to end the story and then you work your way backwards , thats very very helpful and helps you create characters better.
4- Starting to write is the last thing… the Thinking bit takes most of your energy. But once characters are clearly sketched out, all research done on them , then start weaving the story around them.
5- Dont forget that writing is not a one time art , you might have to make several changes in it , each time you re-read it , you will want to make changes .. and its a positive sign … so keep reading what you are writing , every few days … and dont hesitate to make changes … its like a painting … you keep adjusting teeny weeny things even when its complete 
and lastly , all the best , its a very long , challenging journey, specially the end bit , which is , to get your book published … but its a very fulfilling feeling to have written a piece , that belongs to you …

This has been a project very close to my heart also..my solution to finding the (nonexistent) time to the project is to stay up all night , once a week to work on it...my book is on my understanding of metaphysics and understanding the holy books..i think i was born to do this even if my book never gets published or even if it does, and no one ever buys/reads it!

I would love to write a book on my life yeah when I get old and stay home , won’t have anything to do that’s when i 'll do this.
