i don’t want to follow a specific diet, will exercise early in the morning help… considering how some of us desi’s have different khaney to other ppl i find it difficult eating other things and changing my food intake as i have beenbrought up eating the desi fatty foods… but i have noticed that i have put ona lot of weight in the past year and i’m  even playing cricket doesn’t help as much, i get tired to quickly, and i’m always feeling drowsy, my waist feels funny, these are ttesting time for me i don’t know wat 2 do as i find food very very very very hard to resist so following a diet isn’t an option i can take up!!!

let uz chat

i sympathise with u bro

i second all of Degas’s suggestions

try to cut down on everything slowly…

and when it seems like u just wanna give in to the temptation, remind urself:

kuch panay k lyay kuch khona parta hae

mehnat karo ge to phal milay ga

good luck :k: :k:

Dont know if this is motivational but you may want to start running. The first three times are really painfull but after that your body starts getting conditioned to it and you will feel the difference in your stamina. See if you can start off with half a mile to a mile daily with about 20 situps and then gradually increase the distance and repititions. It has actually helped me lower my intake of food cause now I dont get hungary that often. However dont expect any miracles - I would say look at yourself after 8 weeks and then every four weeks after that for changes. I have been at it for about two weeks and nothings changed but I feel a lot better about myself.

Also building some muscle (strenght training) is great cause the more muscles you have the more you burn. Just make sure that once you excercise you dont go back home and eat more then you normally do to make up for the burnt calories.

key things to cut of your diet:
-cheese
-ice creams
-sodas (drink water instead - a lot more healthier or if you want fresh OJ, not concentrates)
-condiments on things such as subs eg mayo, etc
-Junk food such as Macs, BK, taco bell, Pizza (Subways without any cheese, oils, mayo or sauces and six inches instead of a footlong, no soda seems to be ok)

hmmmm get someone else to run with you if you can or else join a class that does these things regularly. The other thing to try and see if why you want to loose the fat. See if there is something motivational in there and try not to hang out with too many lazy people :).

if it helps perhaps you may want to create your online diary of things you have done daily to excercise on here and that way we will all encourage you and perhaps you motivate someone else.

hey let uz chat... i agree with degas... i think if u cant give up ur lovely desi food (thats me).. then just cut down slowly.... if u do it rapidly.. all u end up doing ic craving more and more of it and the plan never lasts...

do it maybe on a weekly thing.. one week cut it down by a quarter.. and another quarter the following week... and get to a stage when ur satisfied that ur eating enuff for energy and not feeling bloated after a meal...

i think another killer is the snacks in between meals... dont fully cut down on choccies and stuff... lekin limit urself.. or replace that with ur favorite fruit.. and it'll work :) sooner or later u'll get used to it and u wont crave for the 'fatty' things..

p.s also give urself one day to eat whatever u want :)
pp.s add a bit of low intensity exercise to ur plan... like walking :)

There’s just one key. Eat for taste!
Convince yourself that no matter how much pizza you eat or anything else for that matter, the taste would go once you stop eating it. So eat a small portion of fatty foods just to get the taste and fill up with fruits or less fatty foods :smokin:

Very well said. :k:

brother, are you familiar with weight watchers programme? Maybe not becuase usually it's women who do that, I think. But it's very helpfull. Some friends of mine started that and actually lost a lot of weight.
They have this point system, everything has points, it's easier than counting calories. You can eat chocolate too, and other fatty foods. As long as you keep counting the points. I don't have those books here with me, unfortunately, or else I could give you some examples. But it's very easy to get used too. You can go have an ice cream, you will loose many points of course, but if you do it well, you can still eat well. There aremany tasty foods which are healthy and don't have many points.
Try to get info aobut weight watchers, maybe someone in your neighbourhood/family is familiar with them, you could borrow a book. It depends on your weight how many points per day you can have.
What I do remember is, that fruits had mostly one or two points only. You can eat many fruits to fill your stomach. Everytiem you're hungry go grab a fruit, that fills the stomach a bit and you'll stop yearning for something tasty, you will get used to the fruit, in_sha_Allah.

The beginning is always the hardest. Once you've started, and the big hurdle is removed, you will find it wasn't taht difficultafter all as it seemed.

Don't start too much excersize either at once, if you still do decide to do that. Walking is good too, as Sadzzz suggested. If you start walking maybe half an hour three times a week, it's a beginning.

Good Luck. :)

Here is a link, click on ‘take the tour’, they explain in short how it works:

Here is another link with products you can use:

http://www.sugarlite.co.uk/

And here is an example of list of points of foods, as you see, you can even have fries and shakes, as long as you keep counting the points and stay within your daily limit:

a SHAKE has more points then a double cheese burger??? WOW. I will check this out later.

The best thing to keep you honest and going is to do fun stuff and do it with friends. Once you get started then its easy.

I thank you all for the kind words and advice :k:  :flower1:
