I was talking to a friend of mine (white guy) about dating and couples who move in together. He said that he would want to date someone and live with them before marrying because he wants to see how she would react in not-so-ideal situations, i.e. money troubles, fights etc. Basically, the person’s reaction when things get difficult.

Given that desis tend to go for a more formal rishta process, should men and women try to piss each other off during the meetings to see how the other reacts? Do you think knowing how your spouse handles difficult situations is worth knowing? For people who have gone through uber formal rishta processes, is this something you looked for?

I ask this because I would imagine that initially, both people are on their best behaviour so it would be hard to gauge.
