Maybe you can start cleaning up after them right in front of them. They’ll be sure to get the point…if they arent slow ![]()

That’s the cost of ‘company’ ![]()
Think of it as a write-off
Re: I think Im going crazy
In our house, we truly believe that guests are a blessing, and our house is always open to guests. BUT we are the only ones in the family who openly welcome people without moaning........like for example, my SIL always says she can't be bothered to have guests over as it's too much cooking and cleaning (for dawats) and that especially guests with kids are a pain. YET people like her regularly come round to ours for dawats.....
Like I say I don't mind throwing dawats, in fact it brings much needed "raunak" in our house.....but then I have to cook, clean (before and definitely AFTER!) and put up with this, that and the other, not to mention the cost. For example SIL will turn up really late then demand that she eat NOW!
What really annoys me about having guests for dawats is a) the state of the bathroom - like some don't even flush the toilet! b) the state of the kitchen - some help themselves to my glasses and stuff even though I lay out all the disposable stuff! Then they have the cheek to not wash a glass before returning it to the cupboard! c) The people who just sit there and don't help AT ALL whilst you run round like a headless chicken!!
But despite all this, I still like to have guests...............
Guests who stay over can also annoy me if they are prone to do the above!
Re: I think Im going crazy

Oh and others tend to try and protect their houses too....whereas they use and abuse ours during dawats..............
Which reminds me, this weekend, I invited SIL and her hubby to come to mine to eat on Saturday as she's having building work done at home and has just got back from overseas...and you know what she did?
She invited EVERYONE else in the family too for a proper dawat....at MY house!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Re: I think Im going crazy
another thing…adrasteia…i am a clean-a-holic…everything in our house (only my mother and I live in it) is in order, spotless…once I got offended when someone said they saw a dust mite on the floor when in fact it was the lint from this cheap wool rug we bought (i threw it out
) …so you can tell how clean i am lol
the point im trying to make is…unfortunately everyone has their own level of cleanliness and some people just can’t meet our expectations
so either we have to just put on a smile and deal with it or become completely anti-social.

Re: I think Im going crazy
Actually that's not a bad idea...to post up rules. Not in a bad way. But maybe play it off as if they are your house rules...which your kids follow..post em up on the fridge/board....maybe in the bathroom wall..
and if anyone asks be like you put em up as a reminder to kids to keep clean...and maybe guests will pick up on the idea and be careful about not leaving a mess.
Re: I think Im going crazy
I agree to all but these two:
If they come to your house with dirty sharwar kameez then they are not your guest they are mangnay walay, so give them some money and say maaf karo baba sahab ghar par nahi hain.
Please do not be so lazy and do not make your guest do your house work and make them wash the glasses and dishes. You do not have Dish Washer ? You do not have a sink to to stash dirty glasses in it and wash them in the Dish Washer at the end of the day.
I will not make my guests wash glasses and dishes after them even if they try to and some of them do , I will not let them do that.
If they are your guests make their stay at your home as pleasurable as you can if they are leeches then it is something different.
Re: I think Im going crazy
I didnt mean dirty that way, some of them have dogs and I hate finding dog hair on my rug and couch ![]()
