Shirt and dupatta can be 60 grams pure chiffon georgette. Raw silk is good for shirt too but since shirt and dupatta are same shade of deep red, I would rather use same material for both since there IS a difference in shade, very slight but still there, when the fabrics are different,no matter how expert the dyer is. Even if we do chiffon shirt and chiffon banarso dupatta, sometimes there is a difference in colors.
Having said that,i would also go with some kaam,or atleast green banarsi patti for sharara bottom.it’s too plain and to me it gives a look of a sharara stitched later to wear on event with a shirt dupatta we already had :bummer:

That is just lovely, Paheli00...definitely a classic piece. I agree with all your points, but I do love the sleeves just the way they are. With regards to the dupatta, how about chiffon? It's lightweight and flowy and you can still add the border etc.
Chiffon will catch on the work on the kameez and "tear"

O.M.G…thank you sooooooooo much for this! Those pics really helps me in seeing the outfit more closely and getting some more “details”. I’m very grateful…thank you!!!
Re: I think I have my dream dress… Thoughts on modifying this?
Thanks! I thought chiffon was a thinner material? For the shirt, will that material be “strong” enough for all that kaam? Also, even IF it’s done in diff. fabrics, in your opinion, do you think that “difference” in the red will be noticeable (especially in pics)?
Re: I think I have my dream dress… Thoughts on modifying this?
Thanks EVERYONE for all your opinions! I found some additional pics and can see the “green” border on the dupatta and tops better now.
Those of you giving opinions on adding something on the bottom of the sharara to “tie” it in…what do you think about putting the green border in the pic below? I’m thinking about putting it on the bottom as a “border”.
Me being only 5 feel tall…should I shorten the kameez? Maybe have it come upto my knee? Thoughts? The heels I wear will most likely be only 2-3 inches since I want to be able to walk around and dance comfortably throughout the night.
Looking at this picture…from this angle…the dupatta doesn’t “look” that heavy. Is that just an illusion?
Besides all this…I’m also considering having matching churidaar made. That way…maybe in the future, i can re-wear this. (And no, I will NOT put the dupatta on my head or wear a tikaa if I wear this outfit to someone else’s wedding!).

there are different types of chiffon:
-plain chiffon (40,60 and 80 grams)
-crinkle chiffon (they call dull chiffon usually)
-chiffon georgette (40,60 and 80 grams)
I am talking about 60 (or even 80) grams chiffon georgette. it is not thin and when dyed in colours, you dont even need lining for the 80 grams one.
and no, the difference wont be noticeable in pictures IMO
