I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

Some beautiful principles to live by.

This is a blog by A Progressive Muslim. I liked the title of it. “A Progressive Muslim”. I also liked the slogan of “Muslims voice of Reason”

May be this is the time for all educated Muslims to come and join hands and get their voice heard and try to clear some dust about Islam from the minds of non-Muslims.

BTW, you can start your own Islam related blog there and leave comments if you like.

Regards,
Chodhry*

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

I am a non-muslim and I have all of those mentioned and many more so should I be thanking god for me being non-muslim..

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

cynic... i think we all pray to one being ... our ways are different.. :~)

thanks for sharing...

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

If this is real Muslim blog, and Islamic teachings than why aren't true muslims standing up against people who are distorting Islam..
<< I am hoping against that this thread will not be turned into Muslim vs world thread>>

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

Love you for this post.......... if we all believe in this, this world will become such a peaceful place to live......

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

Actually, with respect, you are incorrect. Each and every item mentioned in that list comes from an authentic saying of the Prophet or a verse in the Quran. While your faith, whatever it is, may look kindly upon those ideals, prove to us that it is mandated as part of your faith, each and every one…

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

That's the way to go............... I just love this line of logic...... my teacher used to say God is like centre and e all are on the periphery ofthe circle and all of us are pointing toward god so although all those radii seem to be going in diff direction from outside ( for example i u come towards two end of a diameter toward the centre one person will go south for instance and other would be travelling towards north but fact is both of them are reachign toward centre)......

the clsoer u get to the god more u understand that u are on diff path btu the same destination.......... no wonder the great sufs the great mystics like bulle shah and paramhans never cared about islam hinduism etc etc.

remember that song.. bulla ki jane main kaun..

it's awesome

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

Just take for instance God Rama's life u will have example of all those and many more ........

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

cynic .. what do u believe in ? I mean whats ur religion? Hinduism?

I pray and thank God every day that i m a muslim..! Alhumdulilah!
and for the ppl who thank God for being a non-muslim will b able to c their destination on the day of Judgement InshaAllah!
Lets c what happens then!

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

Yeah. On my Judgement day--if my Karma has been good-- I shall be united with ParaBrahma, the supreme One who embodies the Universe; or else I shall come back to the world in the next life as an insect, or a rich man; as an elephant or as a leper.

Anyway, only one kind of thing will happen since we are all the same human-beings (whether Hindu or Muslim). People of different religions wont meet different fates upon death, will they ?

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

umm frm what i believe every human being since the first human on this earth till the last person till the day of judgement will b called up on and will meet there..in front of Allah..N then everyone will get what they deserve..according to their deeds and believes..
N Allah will decide if they go to Hell or heaven..!

i dont believe or actually muslims shouldnt believe on this reincarnation stuff!Once the person is dead..they nver get another chance to cum bak to this worlD!

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

I heard that Quaran gives definition for true Muslim, can somebody put that definition here...

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

we have enough of reincaration case in India where people exactly remember their past life and it has been verified .. big tie research is on on this topic

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

my religious ethos is: do onto others what u expect to be done to you and I take inspiration from hinduism buddhism chrstianity a whole bunch of religions

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

I think you meant - rebirth..

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

Why it is happening only in India? or with Hindus? I mean if this whole incarnation/re-birth stuff is real then why dont we see any such case in other parts/faiths of the world? Your religion controls your psychological state. and these events has more to do with your psychosomatic state than facts.

Regarding the life after death, well, the basic difference is of the belief of God. No matter how good you have been on earth if your basic belief is not right then you can never get to the heaven.

This is like choosing the right path. If you want to cross a jungle and follow the right path you will cross it. But if you do not follow the right path, no matter how good you were in your efforts to cross the jungle, you may never reach to the other side.

I am not here to prove that what religion is right or wrong but just wanted to mention that there is no such religion which does not tell you that to get rewards after death you must have this beliefs. And iif you do not agree then you wont get the rewards. For a Muslim, these beliefs are in the Shape of Oness of Allah, His Holy Prophet and the Holy Book. For Hindus, the supreme power is distributed in different gods. For Christians they have a trinity. For jews, they have a son of almighty too. You can not find a single hindu who would believe to meet his bhagwan without believing all those gods you have. So that contradicts your previous statement of getting to heaven regardless of your basic beliefs.

(Pardon my spellings)

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

Rahul, this is the very theme of that Blog. THats more like a wake up call. Let’s see how many Muslims start their blog and get the point across.

Re: I thank God every day that I am a Muslim

http://web.singnet.com.sg/~alankhoo/Rebirth.htm
Above case is from UK

Acient Americans believed in rebirth, I don’t think Hindusim touched them

Above is from Europe

I can get more, the challenge here is that Christianity and Islam totally negate reincarnation (rebirth) hence there isn’t much research done on this…

[quote]
I thank God every day that when I was a kid I got the affection, love and care that I deserved from my family.

I thank God every day that I am being taught that husband and wife share a divine kind of love and companionship and know how to sacrifice for eachother and how to see only the good in each other.

I thank God every day that I am being taught that your mother is your key to go to heaven. If you want to make your God happy then try to make happy your mother.

I thank God every day that I am being taught that if you are lucky enough to become parent of a duaghter, treat them well and you will be a companion of Holy Prophet in heaven.

I thank God every day that I am being taught that the children should be raised by their own parents and not in a day care system. So that they may not grow up with some kind of love complex and with insecure feelings.

I thank God every day that I am being taught that kids, even when they grow up and become adults, should repsect us as parents.....

It would infact be nice to show how "Islam" made the difference rather than your own words. At large, I have not seen "Islam" making the difference, rather the individual... I have seen "Tableeghi" jamaat people spanking the heck out of their kids, "liberally" religious/secular people giving the kids the love they deserve. How many of us really think of ahadith/verses when we really pass the love to kids?

Same goes for "loving your spouse", I have seen the teaching of "mother key to heaven" being misused really badly :(.

Sorry for all the criticism, but we have to come out of "Islam is so good" slogan and actually start practicing it and demonstrate it.
