Its obvious why they were black and its got nohting to do with your delusional racism theories. America and Europe and other "white" countries are the premier market for hollywood films. And ofcourse, to white people, black people are kind of the "unknown, enigmatic, FOREIGN" people and whites dont seem that foreign. So Peter Jackson must have wanted the islanders to feel very foreign and primitve to the viewers (the whites). You wouldnt want to see white, well-groomed, tuxedo wearing redheads in limosines being shown as savage Islanders right? And lets face it primitive human life began in Africa, and with all due respect african people are black. Its just theatrism and story-telling dont get your panties in a knot. If you want to cry bout something, cry about the animal abuse in the film. Now thats where Peter Jackson outta be behind bars for good.
