if thye first question refers 2 before Islam was spread then u can talk abt idol-worshipping, the Kaaba being full of idols etc,...infanticism,.....all those things,.gambling etc,....

The first revelation,............'Iqra',.read in the name of ur lord,..the angel Jibrael came down and gave the revelation,...the Prophet (pbuh) said he could not read a few times,.and then there came the longer part,...........u'll find in Surah Alaq,...then the words becaame imprinted on his heart,......
