Re: I need help
I don't get your question or I'd write a few good sentences...btw sara516 is pretty good at writing.
I call her the shakespere of my time.
Re: I need help
I belong to a team called Splash which basically is responsible for looking after the work environment keeping it spunky and entertaining.
With the email, it'll be like a standard, congratulations on the start of Ramzan email, but I also wanto add a little text at the bottom for the nonmuslims telling them what ramzan is.
just like a 4 line paragraph.
Also im organizing a praying area for all the rozaydaars.
You'd think Im doing it for goodwill which is not the case.
Last month most of the pakis took hour long breaks saying they are fasthing and need to pray.
Abay asar ki namaaz is just chaar rakat, you need max fifteen minutes to read it and then be at your desk.
They were just using fasting as an excuse to get time off their work
Re: I need help
I had friends who did that, they would leave class early or come in extra late (if they even came in at all) coz they were in charge of iftaari in the MSA. And since it was an Islam class, taught by a nonMuslim lady..she usually let it go..
Re: I need help
i'm not sure how many muslims you have where you're working - if the majority of them are muslim you could start off by saying Ramadan Mubarak, but if you've got only two muslim people working there, you could start with 'Month of Ramadan'
you could start off by informing everyone of when ramadan is starting, what it's about, and how long it lasts.
i dunno - something along the lines of -
Ramadan is one of the holiest months in the Islamic Calendar. During this month, Muslims are requried to fast from sunrise to sunset, as well as perform the five daily prayers. (maybe you could mention the prayer area here??)
Muslims must abstain from food and drink of any kind, including water.
Ramadan is obligatory for all Muslims, excluding the very young, and those who cannot due to health reasons.
At the end of the month of Ramadan, Muslims celebrate the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr- a holiday where family and friends meet with each other, exchange gifts and celebrate the end of Ramadan.
something along those lines? hope that helped
Re: I need help
smilestar we have heaps.
its not just pakis, its sudanese, indians, arabs, lebs, turks.
Thanks for the para, i like it.
Re: I need help
I think you’ll find its Eid ul Fitr.
Re: I need help
900 chohay kha ke bejamalo-bili-sahibah haj ko chalein…

Re: I need help
I dont understand why desis keep calling Ramadan, Ramzan...it sounds so damn paindu.
Its like calling America, amreeka.
Please dont use the word Ramzan in your email, its not the right word. Ramzan is just an urdu derivative of the arabic name Ramadan. Its only acceptable if you're speaking urdu...sounds absolutely awful if you use the word Ramzan while speaking english.
Re: I need help
smack
thanks for the correction :p
Re: I need help
lol smiley what are you on?
Pass it to me.
saieen its got nothing to do with religion or being religous.
Those
Cause then the whole work load sits on my shoulders.
I have to manage the call flow across the few left when all the stupid pakis are taking hour long breaks to pray asar ki namaaz.
Re: I need help

Re: I need help
Maybe add something about how Ramadan isn't simply about giving up food and water from sunrise to sunset, but rather it's a month in which Muslims are supposed to be kinder and better human beings, abstaining from bad deeds, etc etc.
Re: I need help
Good point. Basically something about Ramadan is the month when we're supposed to work on self improvement in every way.
