I was just so excited when my wedding date got set and had an idea of the kindof dress I wanted. Anyways one of my friends knew this wedding dress designer - I saw her portfolio and thought it was great. This was a good friend of mine and I trusted her judgement. This was in January and we designed a fantastic outfit. Well I have been waiting and she has just messed me around, missed every single deadline and hasn’t even stitched the fabric yet - when I met her she said it would be done by july! This has caused me so many sleepless nights and worry so I told not too continue because I just had this feeling it wasn’t going to turn up on time. So here I am about 12 weeks to my wedding and I have no dress.
I know I have time and will get something but right now I feel quite down in the dumps.
Re: I need cheering up
oh wow. where is this designer located? what is your form of communication (phone, actual face to face visit, or email?)
I know you are in a bad situation right now but sometimes stuff like this happens for the better. I went to a friends shower recently. She had gone to India a few months ago for her shopping. She chose a maroon outfit for the funtion at the Gurdwarah (sikh temple). She drew out what she wanted...gave the fittings...and went to pick it up 5 days before her flight back to Toronto and realized that it was nothing like her original design. Forget the top being ill-fitting...even the shirt was too big! She hated it...shoved it in their face and got her money back.
She ended-up finding another outfit at a different boutique...placed an order and rec'd it via mail recently. She says she loves this one more. So in the end everything turned out well.
You made the right decision by telling your designer to scrap the dress. There is no point investing more effort, time, and money, in a ship that's at the verge of sinking. You didn't mention where you live so I'm not sure how easy it'll be for you to get another outfit. People on GS are very helpful and can guide you depending on wher you live. Just pray that everything turns out well. I'll do the same. Keep us posted:)
Re: I need cheering up

awwwwwww girl dun worry wotever is happening must have a reason behind it good luckkkkkk
Re: I need cheering up
hey, no worries, often you can order it off the internet, i know that sounds really iffy BUT there are sites such as bargello.com or mariab.com etc...
is there any way you can make a trip? or maybe go to the desi section of your area, they often have those and they have plenty of desi shops...
good luck hun!
Thanks everyone for your responses.
I did go to the asian areas in the uk (places in london, birmingham, Bradford, Leicester), but the problem is it takes about four months turnaround so I won’t get the dress in time. At least their honest!
My inlaws have kindly said that if I choose something I like then they will get their taylor in Pakistan to get it sorted. That’s where my walima outfit is being made, they have had other bridal dresses made for friends of the family and they are reliable. That seems like the best option to me and I know that it will be good quality and I should get it on time.
I never thought something like a wedding dress would cause so much anxiety! ![]()
