^ I know someone who buys knockoffs and wow the confidence she had when she walks around with them is amazing.....no one has the slightest hint that they are knockoffs....sometimes I think even she herself forgets...I mean in the long run who is seriously going to analyze someone's bag that closely
She says that until she has the money...knockoffs will just have to do
I can see myself buying a cheap knockoff on Canal Street in NYC from someone's trunk and haggling with him over the price. I think I would go to this extreme for a nice handbag.
Now the question is, how obvious is a knockoff compared to the real deal?
My friend go so many on her recent trip and I can't tell the difference. They aren't falling apart on her.
I used to buy my handbags and shoes from Nine West or Town and Shoes. I can no longer afford this and have downgraded myself to shopping at Winners. sigh Now i'm contemplating getting knockoffs or even heading to the flea market. How incredibly sad.
One can find some really good knockoffs on Canal Street!!! The trick is to ask the person running the shop (that look more like stalls IMO) if they carry "channel" "Prada" "coach", etc. They stash these in a hidden location oftenly. And only show you if you specifically ask for it.
Last time I went, I was browsing around in this one shop and obviously getting kinda frustrated because I didn't see any good knockoffs. They just looked so obviously fake! The shop lady must have realized and came over to me and asked me what I was looking for ... I kinda hesitated and then was like "A bag that looks like a real coach or prada" ... emphasizing the "real". She like took me to this hidden back room! And it was full of the good stuff!! I was like woahhhh. I got this awesome knockoff prada business bag. Haggled her from $90 to $45. She didn't know how to count change that well and so I actually got it for like $35. :D
Iv only recently started getting "real" handbags... as gifts from my fiance. I think he felt bad for me because most of my bags were on the verge of dying. So he is slowlllyyyyy building up my collection :) Thank god he has good choice!!! Very convenient!
But Mehnaz - u should def consider getting a knockoff .... its not sad at all! Wear it with confidence and no one will be able to tell.
You can tell a knockoff! Buy Gucci, Jafferji's... or anything else but don't buy knockoff's please :(
Sometimes you really can't! The knockoffs are THAT good. I have a Dior Knockoff that I had the courage to wear when I went inside an actual Dior store and the sales people couldn't even tell! They complimented it right away and one of the girls told me she had the same one and it was one of her favorites from an older collection.
One just has to be picky even when buying a knockoff. :)
I love Aldo bags. People always compliment me for my bags. It seems every other girl has a coach bag - knock off or real.
Aldo actually DOES have really nice bags Afshi...I've bought several bags froom them over the years. I have one that always gets compliments every single time.
Mehnaz,
Don't feel sad.
Consider where you are spending the money that you are saving and you will, without a doubt, be happier and more satisfied.
I find it hard to believe that anyone would put their bag through more punishment than I do.....and if my bags don't fall apart then why do theirs'?
You dont have to. I am looking for ideas on what to buy next.
i saw some nice leather bags on bluefly around ur price rang. c u if like anything there.
Ooooooohhhh Mabrook! I forgot about bluefly...gonna check that out too!
Reha, i love the Kate Spade one but Kate spade is soooo expensive
What do you do with your handbags that they get destroyed so quick? Do you use them for self-defense maybe
I just pop into the Guess outlet once a year, buy 2 handbags for under $100 total and I’m good for the year… my bags never fall apart even though they’re used daily… I dump them everywhere.
Mera stock jamaa hota jaa raha hai Guess bags ka, kiya karoon. Maybe I should sell them on ebay

Ive always worked in the city and travelled via train everyday. So yeah, its gotta be strong.
I try to sell them off when they are in so-so condition and make at least half the money I put into them. Some of them Ive just kept over the years and use them a lot more gently now.
Kate Spade is pricey lekin I just want to splurge this time man! Im SOOOO tempted!!!
then go ahead … I’m totally impressed that you sell your old ones (and totally motivated), so technically you would be spending only $200 … right? Go for it!!
P.S. Whew! Thats a lot of stuff, I have only half of that…no wonder your bags get frayed. The water bottle is the biggest culprit, I’m sure.
