Personal photos, not taken by professionals for tourism brouchures. I have seen some pics of Dubai and I am longing to see pictures of Saudi Arabia and what not. But when people post them, 90% of the pic is their face, and the other 10% is the background, so there is no point.

Is that Corniche?
I used to live in KSA till 1996. Around 1992-1996 is when the Corniche really started booming, new restaurants, shops, roads and what not. Safeway was right there and was a cool spot to checkout some nice cars. Never really saw the exotic cars though.

Had a 12 hour stop over there once at the airport during the gulf war. Manama looked no different from Khobar, other than no abaya and beer at airport.

What's going on in that picture? Will the tide come back and carry those boats back to sea? Or are they permanently there?

Why aren't these beaches developed in manama?
^
those r not beaches....
ppl dont go there to swim....
its low-tide and water level drops real low (i guess its cuz of all that reclamation they have done)....
and PCG, what do u think abou this water????
this is the beach of the durrat-ul-bahrain project which is still under construction....
[thumb=H]pic-045718_6333332.JPG[/thumb]
and no, i cant swim well at all, i'd most probably drown if i went to deep water....
its ugly
^
i asked about the water and not about me.... :p

Those boats aren't there anymore. The apartment block that I was in was built on a former fishing village that was emptied out, but the boats were left behind by the residents. They were sitting there for decades.
These pictures were taken in March. By the time I went to Bahrain last month, most of them had finally been dismantled by the authorities.
PCG - yeah , the water in Bahrain is downright gorgeous. Bahrain is nor my third favourite country in the world - will be going there for 2 weeks every year inshalallah :)
It looks so quaint!
