how websites used to look like back in 1998. You too will get nostalgic for the 90’s after reading it.
Not only that, I also like reading Jang online, because it shows me that Urdu does not require any paragraphs. Just put a whole page of news in one paragraph in tiny writing.
Re: I love reading Dawn.com because it reminds me of...
I have brought this up several times here.
For a premier Pak Newspaper, Dawn's website is just too spartan.
The whole website is a collection of simple static HTML pages that could be developed by an amateur within hours (actually that is true for most Pak news websites)
But the thing that distresses me most is that Dawn.com does not do extensive updates on Breaking News related to Pakistan (infact Indian websites report Pak "breaking" news faster and more extensively than Dawn). The "Breaking News" section of Dawn is totally inadequate.
Re: I love reading Dawn.com because it reminds me of...
Forget the layout and lousy updates, the thing that really bothers me about Dawn is their new sensation with tabloid news. Especially when it comes to cricket, they have published some stories that belong to some third rate newspaper.
Re: I love reading Dawn.com because it reminds me of...
Dawn was the first south asian newspaper to go online. Sadly they have changed much since that time. And completely agree with urdu script on the internet being nearly useless. BBC urdu for instance uses some arab style script that makes reading much harder.
Re: I love reading Dawn.com because it reminds me of...
I don't know why BBC Urdu and Jang have the script. Majority of the internet users can read English and if Pakistanis want to read urdu THEY CAN BUY THE NEWSPAPER. They should publish more local news rather these unreadable script.

WHOA!! Someone sees the issue! I have been saying that since the first time I saw Urdu written in Arabic font. I don't know what you would call it, but i call it a font difference. Urdu is written with a different font than Arabic and if it is written in Arabic style, than it gets hard to read.
Re: I love reading Dawn.com because it reminds me of...
Well, Dawn is easy to nnavigate, but certainly needs to improve its presentation...
Dont understand why they are stuck in the past.
Yeah it is easy to navigate, no flash or image maps. They now have a Dawn E-paper, which I like because I can read the advertisements also. You can gain so much insight about a country just by reading the advertisements.
