I like the Aussie attitude of Standing upto Terrorists.

But where does this attitude go when there is less money involve and where it comes to Pakistan. Or they feel security in India is much higher then Pakistan. We saw in Mumbai and Lahore.

Please don’t think that I am saying they should not go…?All I am saying is I wish they show the same attitude everywhere else as well. Ok now it happened the incident of Lahore but never before it happened to Cricketers so whey they wasn’t standing upto Terrorists?

Leading Australian cricketers have vowed to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) next month, saying they will not give in to terrorism after this week’s attack on the Sri Lankan team in Pakistan.

The brazen attack as the team headed to a Lahore stadium for the third day of the second Test against Pakistan left six police and two civilians dead, while seven Sri Lankan cricketers and a coach were among 19 people wounded.

Former England coach Duncan Fletcher has warned English cricketers heading to the IPL that, based on his experience, some types of terror attacks are easier to carry out in India than in Pakistan.

But Australia’s top cricketers led by high-profile paceman Brett Lee say they still want to play in the IPL.

“We can’t let this stop us going about what we do with our lives,” Lee told The Daily Telegraph.

Lee was joined by Nathan Bracken, Dave Hussey, Shane Watson, Brad Hodge and Dave Warner, who said they would not be persuaded to skip the IPL competition.

“It’s concerning that terrorism is impacting the sport,” Bracken said. “But I’ll still be going.”

On Wednesday, India’s home minister said he wanted the IPL tournament postponed because it clashed with general elections and security forces would be stretched to provide protection for both events.

With many of the world’s leading players set to arrive in India next month, the Federation of International Cricketers (FICA) has written to IPL organisers seeking increased security.

“We owe to it the game and all of its stakeholders to ensure that at all times cricket has not only access to, but implements ‘best practice’ security,” FICA chief executive Tim May said.

“We should leave no stone unturned in the search and implementation of such advice and procedures.”

Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, who plays under Shane Warne for the Rajasthan Royals, said he would be happy to go to India if FICA were able to meet the required security standards.

“You’re never safe anywhere, to be fair,” Watson said.

"It’s part and parcel of the world environment at the moment, more than just a certain region.

“I love playing cricket and if the opportunity is there to go to India, I will be there with bells on.”

West Australian and Mohali coach Tom Moody, who also coached many of the Sri Lankan players injured in Lahore, said that terrorists could not be allowed to be seen to win.

“We can’t step away and seem that we’re beaten because of these individual acts,” Moody said.

“I’m sure security will be lifted to maximum level and players and officials should be able to be safe going forward, whether it’s the IPL or other tours in parts of the sub-continent.”

Re: I like the Aussie attitude of Standing upto Terrorists.

Aussies do have a point. Cricketers have NEVER been targetted in India where in contrast to the incident in Lahore...cricketers WERE the direct target.

Plus, the whole world knows the current regime in Pakistan is useless. They don't have a clue as to whats going on and what to do. Where as in India...things are still in control and their government, however corrupt or bad it may be, is still much more in control compared to Pakistan.

Terrorism against foreigners, terrorism against cricketers, abduction of UN workers, PML-N-PPP on going tension, Baluchistan problem, swat problem...and the list goes on. Pakistan is not safe for cricket...and unfortunetly I don't see it being safe unless there's a regime change...and more importently...untill our jaahil awaam wakes up and gets rid of these islamic extremist monstors.

Re: I like the Aussie attitude of Standing upto Terrorists.

^ This was the argument Imran Khan made... Cricketers have NEVER been targeted in Pakistan.

IPL means lots of money, that's about it. They did refuse to come to Pakistan a few years earlier too. With similar environment as prevailing in India now.

I don't agree. Keep in mind that even before the Lahore attack when cricketers were never targeted like that, Australians were not willing to travel to Pakistan. They were not willing since 9/11.

However Australians were really willing to defeat terrorists during IPL last season when there were bomb blasts in Jaipur. They were even willing after November 26th Mumbai attacks.

Yes,, there was a huge security lapse in Lahore attack which is going to haunt Pakistan cricket for many years to come. But please don't imply that Australians have a point that since Cricketers were the direct target therefore they won't play in Pakistan. Surely you must have heard, paisa phaink tamasha dheek....

Re: I like the Aussie attitude of Standing upto Terrorists.

FOREIGNERS have NEVER been targeted in INDIA. Even in the solitary case of Mumbai attacks where they were targeted, we all know now where the terrorists came from.

In that sense - India is seen (and rightly so in my mind) as the VICTIM country where Pakistan's past history of state-sponsorship of extremisim often clubs it with the PERPETRATORS.

Last but not the least - let us face it - Pakistan is a Muslim country while India is a Hindu majority secular state - on that basis alone - you can have little doubt about where the goras will feel safer.

I know the Aussies do have double standards...but I do understand why they would be hesitent coming to Pakistan. Its understandable, the chances of something happening to them is higher in Pakistan with all the unstability since 9/11 and this war on terror.

In India, a terrorist attack like Jaipur or Mumbai is a rare incident...and even then the investigations of these attacks somehow lead back to Pakistan. Now whether thats true or not is a totally seperate arguement...but unfortunetly the image of Pakistan to the world since 9/11 has been that there is widespread state sponsored terrorism, ISI helps these terrorists, majority of Pakistani's approve the actions of Al Qaeda, and where ever there's a terrorist attack in the world...Pakistan is somehow connected to it.

Like some1 said...to the majority of the world...India is only a victim of these terrorists, whereas Pakistan, is the hub of producing these terrorists.

jahil awam has no role, there is no value to whtever they say , even without many ppl going for voting n stuff 100% voted r casted, where do awam stand in all this? 80% of awam of paksitan is worried about what their children will eat next day, how much is a kilo of tomatoes, 2nd no. son fees is due n stuff like that, they dont hav time or energy to think abt these stuff

rest 20 % r the enlighten moderation paksitani who hav enough money to shop at dubai , eat at pc or sheraton, go to night clubs, hav hookahs n alcholic drinks.n they dont care whats happening to paksitan until n unless there pockets r full.
i am not sure which awam u r talking abt?

And Raw is Pakistani terrorist organisation too, you forgot already Samjotha train incident....and you can cry in front of the world because INDIAN throw money at them. And I thought indians were crying about Mumbai incident that it was attack on foriegners, and you think cricketers are not foreigners??? or Indians change their stories where it suites them.

What guarantee do you have that the terrorists cannot attack cricketers in INDIA. Brother dont say things you may have to eat your words. Pray and hope that nothing happens in India during elections, there are lots of crooks in your country too who will benifit from these incidents.

I wont be so sure of our Politicians, they maybe just doing what US tells them due to our financial situation. I wont be surprise their admission to Kasab being Pakistani is only because Master ordered them to admit.

As you can see now MR Boucher already claiming srilankan terrorists have no hand in Lahore incident. How on earth he already knows while investigation is going on. NO one got caught yet but he already knows it. They want Pak govt to say what they want them to say. Damn hopefully these things will change and I hope they change in my life time. And whoever is calling Jahil nation and those words........they need to look inside themself.....no one have a right to call anyone any names.

You meant Christians will feel safer with HINDUS in India…then just read this story only published on 03 of March 09.

A month ago India jumped from No. 30 to No. 22 in Open Doors’ 2009 World Watch List of countries where Christians suffer the most

Re: I like the Aussie attitude of Standing upto Terrorists.

Well if the aussies wants to go than they are more than welcome to go ahead…

But remember one thing guyz money is not important than your life and this time IPL is less secure for some obvious reasons…:chai:

Aussies dont have a point, just that money is talking…

And in terms of secuirty India is no better than pak…i guess everyone knows it, just that money is keeping their mouth shut…

Well somone out there is supporting these terrorist, they are getting funding from somewhere, weapons, explosives etc etc. It’s not like these terrrorist have a weapon or explosive factory where they make their own!

And everyone apart from you seems to know what i mean by “somewhere”…

Who you calling jaahil awaam? An idiot calling others jaahil? Makes sense…

Soon India won’t be safe for hosting intl cricket matches too, infact whole south asia won’t be…:chai: Just wait nd watch…

Re: I like the Aussie attitude of Standing upto Terrorists.

guys this blame game will go on forever. one blaming others of wat happened. no1 knows who i the terrorist and who is not. blaming others wont solve the problem really. whether they were extremist muslims, sum kiraey ke terrorists or it was a topee drama it doesnt matter now.

it is better for pcb to be extra careful. the security provided to sri lankan team wasnt enuf. i have noticed that pcb seems helpless sumtimes and they dont stand up for their players and team the way it used to. and they have gone careless it seems. ppl running pcb r not interested in betterment. it was never like that b4. wonder wat happened.

Re: I like the Aussie attitude of Standing upto Terrorists.

and for the aussie team they have their double standards. and theres nuthing to be appreciated about their attitude. if they want to show that they r standing up against terrorism then they shud come and play in pakistan too.

they r going to play in IPL despite mumbai attacks? bull!! they r going to play in IPL jst because they r paying them big money. pay them more money than india they’ll be playing in pakistan even if there r banana peels scattered all over the stadium

First thing…dont call me an idiot…u respect my point of view and I will respect ur point of view. Sadly, I have been to Pak many times and have witnessed, seen, and heard how people there ‘approve’ the actions of Al Qaeda and Osama. Its sad, really.

I dont care who these Taliban are getting the funding and explosives from…the ones who are carrying out the attacks in Pakistan ARE muslims and Pakistani’s. Its VERY easy to blame others for our problems…but its harder to admit and fight them.

As for the jaahil awaam comment…its a fact…majority of Pakistan is not educated…our literacy rate is lower than 50%. Why else do you think its so easy for these extremists to brain wash our people?

I know what you mean by ‘somewhere’…but I also know our very own ISI has played its dirty part in destabilizing India…so it goes both ways…ISI and RAW are out to destabilize each others countries…unfortunetly for Pakistan…RAW as of now is doing a better job.

If Pakistani ‘Awaam’ unites to fight against terrorism…I can gaurantee RAW, Mossad, CIA, and etc. cant even touch Pakistan…all these intelligence agencies are doing is taking advantage of our internal problem’s and arming our own people to fight against each other. How do we get rid of these foreigners trying to destablize us? By uniting as a country…which unfortunetly will NEVER happen.

PPP is too busy blaming PML-N, PML-N is too busy blaming PPP, Imran Khan and JUI are busy blaming RAW and CIA, while others such as PML Q are sitting back and watching the ‘tamasha’.

For god sakes…we have a HUGE problem in our country…for once…frikkin UNITE and solve it…and save the country…then go back to your dirty political games.

And Zafar…I am Pakistani…but a very disheartned Pakistani…who once loved the country a lot…until these maniacs started ruining the image of Pakistan and Islam all around the world…and it doesnt seem to get any better.

And lastly Shaz, we will see how South Asia and India wont be safe to host any international games…mark my words…they will be safe. Even BD has the sense to delay the upcoming PAK-BD series because they knew there will be security concerns. India doesnt have idiots like Ijaz Butt and Saleem Altaf running their cricket boards.

To give you more proof to why I know Saleem Altaf is an idiot…my dad worked with him in UAE for many years…and he knows exactly what kind of person he is. I bet you didnt know…Saleem Altaf and Naeem Bukhari are brothers…real brothers…and most people dont know that.

Re: I like the Aussie attitude of Standing upto Terrorists.

Yaasir: Dude the only reason why i called you an idiot is because you called our awaam “jaahil”, anywayz this is cricket forum and i dont want to discuss politics here, i take my word back, sorry about it

But yes i agree with you, Ijaz butt is an A$$, no matter what we couldnt protect our guest and i dont see no reason why pak should host any more international matches from now on…

Our security is a joke!

Re: I like the Aussie attitude of Standing upto Terrorists.

^ no worries Shaz...I wasnt having a great day myself so I posted that longggg reply...

Hopefully Ijaz Butt is removed and someone who knows what they're doing takes control of PCB. I was reading in Jang I believe that PCB might even have its own 'Security Wing.' In these troubled times...I think its not a bad idea.

Really?

Let’s hope this is true…i am a big fan of crciket…

Let’s hope and pray Pakistan get’s through this difficult time…

chal bay ...hahhaha.

it all comes down to making a few rupees off each of the 800 million poor people, which amounts to a lot of money. thats it. thats how you defeat the terrorists. you ignore them and take the money. lol
