does not have an experienced batting line up, however the way this CT has gone, it seems the batting line just did not even try to apply themselves. Aside from Imran Farhat the rest were all reasonable selections.
So …what really happened…how come only Misbah has scored in last two games…professor seems clueless, Nasir coming back to form but no support…

Really? You mean Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal were reasonable selections? That is half your batting line Imran, Shoaib, Kamran :)

The batting lineup is a little too over-experienced in my opinion... with the likes of Malik, Farhat, Akmal, Misbah. It's an over-correction on the part of the current selection committee who've opted for experience over talent/form.
Also while I am a very strong supporter of Misbah as a key player in the team, I'm not sure about the effect of his batting philosophy over the team. What works for him may not work for everyone and if it's taking away from the batsman's natural game, then things need to change. I hope Misbah isn't implicitly coaching or advising players to play a certain way.

No sorry missed that...
yaar kabhee baat bhi samjha karo....
Yes Malik as well.
Kamran can attack but he came in always lower in the order and under pressure.
Trust me i don't support his inclusion, but he could have been fine if the top order wasn't this messed up.
I mean if Umar Amin is in the side, then why is he being sent after Malik? He should have been sent in 1 down and told to get settled first. Stop the slide. He is a test class batsman so he would have been the left hand version of Azhar Ali.

If you were the chairman of selector or PCB...who would you appoint as Captain?
My personal opinion is that they should not target 2015 WC, face reality and appoint someone who can deliver wins over long run and think about someone like Azhar, Asad etc for ODI as VC under Hafeez.
Let that person develop and and show if they can take over.
1. Contrary to hype, talent cupboard is empty esp. batting
No genuine batsmen are coming through. Asad Shafiq is okish, he is not someone who can dominate good bowling attacks. I am not sure if he is the long-term answer to our batting woes. Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad are far more talented than Shafiq but they are also reckless-prone and lack discipline and patience to stay at the wicket. Inexperience is no good excuse as these guys have been around for 3 years now. Miandad and Inzamam announced their talent in far fewer international games than these guys have played. Miandad exploded from the outset. Hafeez is too inconsistent. These guys are just not learning from their mistakes. Batting failure is symptomatic of defensive approach. Look at our neighbours. They are churning out one quality batsman after the other - Kohli, Rahane, Pujara, Dhawan etc.
2. Bad team selection: Selecting 4 openers and no genuine all-rounders upset the entire balance of the side. We might have still struggled with the bat with Shehzad, UA and Hammad etc. in the team but atleast we would have played our best possible combination.
3. Politics within and between regions is harming our cricket. Knowing how some desis function this is very plausible. All recent selectors are guilty of regional favouritism and selecting 2 or 3 sifarishis at the expense of more talented players.
I want to see the best Pakistan team take on the best (other) team. It takes enjoyment out of cricket if corrupt sub-standard players represent our team.
So you are saying we should go with Misbah then for the WC2015 ?

No. I meant appointing or selecting for 2015 focus should not be the target to groom a new captain. What ever happens in 2015 will happen, but they should target after that so that a good prospect is not wasted under pressure for 2015.

Yes and it doesn't help when noora govt. comes and dismisses chairman and no one appointed to date. The team, board all in limbo.
The culture inside Pakistan domestic cricket is also a big factor. Still if the chief of selectors and board chairman would be impartial and scout out the best of the best, then Pakistan's team could again be a good fighting unit.
I suggest before we do anything else..we find ourselves a reliable wicketkeeper that can also bat for us. I mean look at Sangakara and MS Dhoni both of them are top class wicketkeepers and batsmen. Standing behind the wicket gives you a clear view of what all is going on around the field and you can clearly see the line and length of your bowlers. Obviously, Kamran Akmal has all the experience in the world but he is too inconsistent and is only good at screaming out ghoomay gi phiray gi nachay gi..dorray gi ...Another great example would be AB Devilliers...SA have won a lot of matches under his captaincy..point being is that wicketkeepers with a good batting average always make good captains...we need to start working on one for ourselves too.
Definitely, we need major changes to the batting lineup, no doubt about that. Imran Farhat, Kamran Akmal, Shoaib Malik, and Hafeez have to be gone. If you must keep Hafeez for his all-round abilities, he needs to come in at 6-7. Hafeez Upfront in non-subcontinent pitches, he cant do much but put pressure on the middle order by getting out early.
Ahmed Shahzad is too risky upfront as well. More talented and genuine striker of the ball, but if he is given the opening role, he needs to have a fulltime batting coach with him, someone like Inzi or MoYo to guide him for 1 full year. They'll be his personal coach. I think the same strategy is needed with pairing Nasir Jamshed & Saeed Anwar for 1 full year. Personal batting coaches. Build around them, the rest of your team. Try out the Sohaib Maqsood and Usman Salahuddin's and in the middle order with Asad Shafiq and the likes who can stake a claim for international duty. Lower middle order needs Hamad Azam for the clean hitting and quick runs with Sarfaraz Ahmed playing in front of him.
For captaincy claims, I think the best option would be Sarfaraz Ahmed as wicket keeper/captain. He should be given one year and keep Misbah in the team as a batsmen but not as a captain.
We have pretty much have a decent bowling attack, but I think we need to identify 2 genuine all-rounders for the future.

Waleed I don't think YK has any chance for ODI team any more...he is from the days gone by. Although I do believe he was a good captain and he knew how to get the best out of players except for politicians.
They could put him and have him groom the next kid. YK will do that for sure, he knows how to transfer power without hesitation...:D

YK is already 38-40..so he has past his prime...he has been lying about his age for a long time..he disclosed his real age accidentally in an interview
