i have a kabooter problem

so we have kabooters..like 15-16 of them..
and we are having problems pairing them up? like how do u tell if its a girl kabootar or a guy kabootar? this is our first problem
second..as u all know..winter is here..do kabooters need something over their pinjra..or are they fine without one?
third..2 of our pairs ne andey dia..like 2 weeks ago
the first pair..ne 2 andey dia..the first one..i guess wasnt ready..so it disppeared after like 3-4 days..the second one is still there..its pretty small..and its been like over 3 weeks..abhi tak the anda is the same..kabootri is sitting on it and stuff but koi khushkhabri nahi..
the second pair..ne anda dia like 2 weeks ago..its bigger than the first anda and the kabootri is sitting on tht one too..per koi khush khabri nahi
so the question is..how long does it take for kabootar’s egg to..umm i dont know wht ya call it..to..hmm..tayar hone mai???
and if the time limit is already up..and the anda is still there..what do u do?

Re: i have a kabooter problem

I dont know what color and kind of kabotars you have so i cant tell you how to distinguish a male from a female. Maybe if you'd post a pic i'd be able to tell you what to look for.

In winter, the best thing is to add a bit of whisky to their water, it keeps them warm. But like just a tiny drop.

If you are keeping them outdoors, a thick cover like a car cover to keep 'em warm during nights or windy days.

Kabootars do catch cold and its called lakwa so you have to be careful of their environment.

Third answer is where actually did you get the kabootars, if you got them from a pet shop, then even though they can lay eggs, the eggs donot hatch into babies.
However the incubation period for a pigeon is a between 2-3 weeks.

If the egg wont hatch for some reason, the kabootar will eventually throw it out of the nest and destroy it or abandon it.

so let nature take its course.

Donot touch the egg as birds abandon their eggs if someone touches them.

Also make sure you dont get ants near their cages cause ants like eating eggs :D

Re: i have a kabooter problem

sorry for the bad quality..i’ll try to see if i can take better pictures later

ok..actually we got them from this other family..who didnt need/want kabooters anymore..

Re: i have a kabooter problem

Aww they are adorable.
So they are your average kabotars, now its really hard to tell males and females in birds with no distinctive features like a hen and a rooster etc.

With pigeons, the male has a short raised beak while the female has a long beak.

Re: i have a kabooter problem

hmm..
right now..they all are hiding in their cage cuz its raining and cold..so cant really go look at their beaks..
anything else?

Re: i have a kabooter problem

Na thats bout it unfortunately, there is another test although you might laugh at it.

Get the kabootars to stand infront of a mirror one by one, the male would kind of make noises and bow at his own image.

Yeah I know its kinda absurd but it thinks its a mate and wants to impress it.

Females dont do that. They just sit and wait to be courted :cb:
