I have a confession to make & something that maybe hurtful as well.
For me, understanding the translation of Quran is becoming difficult because i sometimes understand it by logic. By this I mean, the tone in which the translation is quoted & the style in which its translated gives me a different feeling - a feeling of pompousness when words like “Hum nai” are used. Just as when you find a narcissist person around you, you feel a little awkward reacting to the praise he is giving himself, the same way I find myself at odds understanding the greatness of The Being.
I have a trust on Him, I know He is always there, I know He loves us a lot, I always turn to him when in trouble, I pray regularly, but with all these there is something that’s distracting my concentration. Maybe its the action of Shaitan who tries to derail me by giving me these feelings.
I want some one to clarify me these confusions & the awkward feeling I get when reading the translation.
Dont worry sweety, your not the only one who gets these feelings, I know others who feel this way.
Its important to realise that you are reading the *translation *of the quran which cannot possibly do justice to the essence of the arabic language that is was sent down in. So if you feel there’s something that doesn’t make sense to you, you would essentially need to read the notes, or hadiths or explanations that accompany it.
Here is a link from sunni path…some1 asked a question about losing faith, the answer from the sheikh is very beautiful and should make you feel better… qibla.com domain name is for sale. Inquire now., I wana share this beautiful hadith with you…
Sayyiduna Abu Haraira (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once a group of people came to the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) and asked: “We experience such evil thoughts that it is impossible to bring them on our lips”. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: “Do you really experience these thoughts? Yes, they replied. The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: “They are clear signs of faith”. (Sahih Muslim).
Im sure you are a good muslim and have Iman..sometimes the shaitan tries to take that away…we have to remember its a struggle to keep our Iman and its not enough to simply say yeah im muslim and thats it.
Make lots of duas as Allah swt is closer to us than our jugular vein…
Inshallah it will be accepted..
Apologise but I don't see your regard to the words as logic ... I see it as emotional interference. If we view the subject matter logically then for sure Allah (SWT) is The Only Diety... Only He is deserving of worship. If He says "Us" then this is not unbefitting of Him. Everyone will peril with words and you are right the Shaitan does try to bring discord in our thoughts. That is why we read "audzubillah" before reciting and are in a state of wudu ... out of respect and out of protection.
If God is like no other then it follows what is acceptable for Him is not acceptable for us ... this is logic ... If we adorn ourselves we are being arrogant - and pride is a crime for us ... However ... Allah (SWT) Himself says "Pride is the Cloak of Allah" that the only One who deserves it is Allah (SWT) to be with Pride. Our initial thoughts will be a shock and move us away ... but then if we deliberate on it ... That is "awe" ... it is the first sign of awe ... We get taken back and whispers may come in to tell us that "being good is being humble" so we read the words as arrogance and the voices tell us the moving away is about disliking this and denying the truth in it. We in turn should tell those voices ... No - Allah (SWT) Himself is Deserving of All Praise - AlhumdulillahiRabil'Alameen ... what does that mean? It means when He Speaks with Pride ... We bow our heads ... that is what that means ... and those whispers should go away. inshaAllah ... they will.
Likewise try thinking of the opposite ... If God is Truthful can He say ... "I'm only God"? How far is He from all impurity !!! No ... we should expect Him to Say "I (We) am Deity - The Only One"
