Develop some confidence, woman. And try to understand that the only reason your saasu maa makes these rude remarks is because she is JEALOUS that her son has another woman in his life to concentrate on besides his mommy. Your mother-in-law is insecure, jealous, bitter, and wants to bring you down. Misery loves company.
Act like it doesn’t bother you and try to make your relationship with your husband SOOOOO STRONG that not even his mother can weaken your bond. And just pray to Allah for patience and justice. Trust me, eventually people get what the deserve.
And if you can’t be patient, then try throwing some subtle meethi churis in your saasu maa’s direction. Next time she starts with you, just say:
“Ammi, aap ka beta waaqaiy main bahut good-looking hai, MashaAllah. Woh aap ka beta bilkul bhi nahin lagta. Aap dono ki shaklain aapas main milti hi nahin. Chalo, khair, jaisi bhi shakal hai, shukar karna chahiye. Allah soorat ko nahin, seerat ko dekhta hai.”
