I hate MSN's interface

Its too much GUI in the gui (ask your sindhi friend what that means). How can i have a simple msn window without any of these graphical cosmetics. A simple text box and a conversation view panel. nothing else.

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: I hate MSN's interface

windows messenger? or gmails messenger service?

Re: I hate MSN's interface

^ WM - but its even more unsecure - you could run trillian.

Re: I hate MSN’s interface

Switch over to Windows Messenger. :k:

Re: I hate MSN’s interface

^ no sad, WM is extremely unsecure. Its sooooo insecure that MS stopped the service in their SP2 Patch.:bobo:

Re: I hate MSN's interface

You are talking about MSN messenger, right?Which one? Messenger LIVE or the regular one? I haven't accepted the invitation from hotmail and haven't yet tried the LIVE version.
You could, however, get a skin for MSN messenger that is simpler than the ones they have by default. There are other minor changes you can make to make it simpler, such as removing the tabs, etc.

Itsme: Trillian has alot of graphics too.

Re: I hate MSN's interface

Is windows massenger really insecure?....i didnt know that..i just think its boring without all the options and tools in msn messenger..i like it!

Captain Lota--Y do u want a simple version? u can just b simple in msn mess..just dont use any of the tools and graphical cosmetics!

Re: I hate MSN’s interface

:smack: bizz thought i would not hear that from you :cb:

get a simple skin for it - and ofcourse you will have all the “extra” features as well as a simple IMS.

Re: I hate MSN’s interface

Tell me one thing. What makes Trillian safer than MSN or WM?
I know there is some suspicion about them leaking out info, but how do you know Trillian doesn’t do that?

Re: I hate MSN's interface

I run a P3-500 Mhz so i do not have the luxury of a fast computer. It takes about three seconds to open each MSN Messenger chat window and even longer to close it. This was certainly not the case with earlier lightweight versions.

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: I hate MSN's interface

its been tested - and nothing has come up.
There are several security companies that perform tests on software to verify that they do not "leak" information.

When i say: Safe: I mean not only information wise but also security wise (i.e. bugs, holes, etc).

Re: I hate MSN's interface

Does MSN force you to upgrade to the latest version? I mean, would it still be possible to run older MSN versions?

Re: I hate MSN's interface

you could run the older versions, but it prompts popups etc, and warnings when someone else uses a feature that is in newer version.

Re: I hate MSN’s interface

I hate Trillian :grumpy: its such a pain. :aj:

Re: I hate MSN’s interface

Luckily you can get rid of all the gui very easily. Like I have:

Even ‘Search’ box there opens a new window and shows search results on Google, and not on msn search.

Re: I hate MSN's interface

I like skypes interface, one of the best

Re: I hate MSN's interface

and I suppose you don't want to use a web interface to MSN... something like ILoveIM.com ??

The reason I like "ILoveIM.com" over the other websites that have implemented the MSN Messenger protocol is because it seems light-weight and doesn't require any additional plugins.

Re: I hate MSN's interface

If you guys are interested in using an Online IM, use meebo.com
That is what I use in school, where you are not allowed to download or install an IM.

Re: I hate MSN's interface

I totally have same problem. I did not upgrade my msn for one and a half year and kept using very old version which used to be very light and simple. Only if someone has the old file of msn then you can certainly install that on your computer. Now that i upgraded it, i really hate this.
There was a time when msn file used to be only 300 kb.
