i hate asma jehangir

asma jehangir says that pakistani army jawans who stormed lal masjid were war criminals because army jawan used excessive force. yet yesterday she demanded indian govt help overthrow the govt of pak even though indian government is responsible for the death and disappearance of over 100k+ kashmiris.

"Noted Pakistani human rights activist Asma Jahangir Monday urged India and other democracies to support the lawyers’ movement for the restoration of democracy in the neighbouring country.

Jahangir, who was here to garner support against the military regime, said the ongoing lawyers’ movement in Pakistan would continue until true democracy was established.

…India and other neighbours must support us,’ she said at a press conference here…"

while lots of people on this website have rightly been very critical of mullahs for their treachery, we must not forget the role played by pakistani leftist groups in destabilising pak. evidence emerged after the fall of soviet union showing that pretty much all the prominent pakistani secular-leftist figures were in the pocket of soviet union. historically, to further the interest of soviet union, leftist groups followed an agenda that was detrimental to pakistan. pakistani awam never bought the leftist agenda. behaviour of liberal groups in pak has given awam the impression that secular/liberal groups are anti-pakistan. mullahs have exploited this impression to gain the trust of awam. pakistanis who are against mullahism and yet want to see a strong pakistan have a duty to speak out against the propaganda spread by the likes of asma jehangir. otherwise awam will continue to believe that non-religious people cannot be patriotic and are in the jaib of foreigners.

Re: i hate asma jehangir

Is this authentic ?

That’s treason.

Re: i hate asma jehangir

She never said that, stop twisting her words

She has helped more Pakistani’s than you ever will.

Thank God we have people like her to defend the defenseless :jhanda:

Re: i hate asma jehangir

for folks interested in history, the following site contains priceless material on pak. the link below details how kgb planned to destabilise pakistan using internal pakistani sources. while times have changed, i can bet foreign agencies in pak follow the same blue-print. given that we are so eager to fight amongst ourselves, i think foreign agencies will be using the same approach for many a year.

In February 1980, Andropov approved a KGB plan of action relating to Pakistan which specified the following:

“]1. Through KGB SCD [Second Chief Directorate] assets, a warning is to be conveyed to the Pakistan Mission in Moscow to the effect that if a sensible line does not prevail in [Pakistani leader] Zia-ul Haq’s political course, and Pakistan agrees under pressure from the US and China to turn its territory into a base for permanent armed struggle against Afghanistan, the Oriental Studies Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences will be instructed to study ways of exploiting the Baluchi(1) and Pushtun(2) movements in Pakistan, as well as internal opposition to the country’s military regime, in the interests of the security of the frontiers of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan (DRA).

  1. Using operational-technical means, 500 copies of leaflets produced at the Center are to be disseminated in Islamabad and Karachi; some of these, issued in the name of a group of Pakistani Army officers, sharply criticize the government’s internal and external policy, which is leading to a constant deterioration of the country’s material situation.

  2. Three hundred leaflets codenamed ‘SARDAR’ are to be produced, demonstrating to the administration that there is extreme dissatisfaction with its policy in public and military circles.

…step up the activities of Pakistani émigrés and of the nationalist movement, particularly in Baluchistan; disrupt Afghan émigré organizations; intensify the local population’s hostility towards Afghan refugees.

…• Complete the elaboration of proposals for exploiting the separatist movement of Pakistani Baluchis and Pakistani opposition forces located in the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan.

…• Promote by all means an intensification of the Pakistani population’s hostility towards Afghan refugees and the disruption of the Afghan emigration in Pakistan.

…• “] Through the KGB Residencies in Islamabad and Karachi and the Afghan special services, supply slanted information to Baluchi leaders about the Pakistani authorities’ intention to legalize the presence of Afghan refugees on the territory of Baluchistan, giving them the right to erect permanent dwellings and to use the pasture lands to put out their animals to graze.

• Prompt some Baluchi groups to engage in armed clashes with Afghan armed detachments.

• Examine the expediency of making and maintaining contacts with representatives of the Baluchi emigration to Europe, in order to ascertain the situation within the Baluchi movement, exerting influence on it, and giving the impression that the USSR intends to give broad assistance to this movement.

• Consider the expediency and technical possibility of setting up a radio station in Afghanistan which, in the name of the Baluchis, would call on the population of Baluchistan to fight for the establishment of an autonomous state.

• Through the Afghans, carry out a series of leaflet operations designed to exacerbate relations between the population of Baluchistan and the Afghan refugees.

• Convey slanted information to Pakistani leaders about the US’s intentions and specific actions to exploit the Baluchi problem to put pressure on the Zia-ul Haq government in order to secure the further use of Pakistan as a stronghold for organizing the undeclared war against Afghanistan.

• Carry out disinformation operations about the CIA’s contacts with individual Baluchi leaders, including some who had emigrated, either directly or through political figures such as [probably Former Iranian Prime Minister Shapur] Bakhtiar and [Former Iranian General Gholam Ali] Oveisi [Oveissi]. For the sake of credibility, compile and send out letters ostensibly from Baluchis to the Pakistan Embassy in the US and some countries in Asia, containing threats against Zia-ul Haq and other military and state personalities in Pakistan. It would be clear from this that the Baluchi leaders are receiving support and financial assistance from the American authorities and special services in pursuit of the idea of establishing an independent Baluchistan.

• Consider jointly with the Afghans how to incite the Baluchis to engage in antigovernment actions, and what assistance should be given.

Re: i hate asma jehangir

i think the "root cause" of kashmiri deaths is not india, brother faisal. asma jehangir is a nice lady, if you dont like her, maybe you should go live in a cave in tora bora?

Re: i hate asma jehangir

Keep in mind the story is reported by an Indian paper. There is a such thing as bias. It would be worthwhile to look up the topic in Pakistani newspapers to see how they printed her statements.

Invoking India to play a part in Pakistani politics in this situation, I don't think would be treason. She's just asking for a more balanced country to get involved; and India has quite a bit at stake in the seemingly sudden increase in extremist violence in Pakistan.

I think from what I heard her say on an interview on Pakistani television, her stance is more along the lines of "Everyone here is stupid" rather than just having an anti-government stance. I don't think she supports what was going on in Lal Masjid - she's been fighting Islamic conservatives for some time now on women's issues - I can't imagine her supporting Islamic extremists.

Re: i hate asma jehangir

Asma Jahangir urges India to support democracy in Pakistan

she just urging other countries to support democracy and not overthrow as per this site.

Re: i hate asma jehangir

Re: i hate asma jehangir

Re: i hate asma jehangir

ur so oversmart - just like Wasi Zafar - Musharaf would love u too

Re: i hate asma jehangir

dont know who Wasi Zafar is and dont care

All i care about that is menace from Islamabad has ended

Re: i hate asma jehangir

How can you claim to know so much about Pakistan when you don't even know who that is??

Re: i hate asma jehangir

Wasi Zafar is a laws minister who dosent know anything about the law...

Re: i hate asma jehangir

Reminds me of an old joke-

There was a conference where a Pakistani PM met Afghani conterpart and wa sintroduced to the Afghani Minister of Railways. Pak PM asked in surprise why do u have a Railway Minister when u dont have railway network in Afghanistan.. The Afghani PM said - why u have a law minister!!

Re: i hate asma jehangir

i dont know much about pakistani politicians

Re: i hate asma jehangir

hes right he only knows about dictatorships and their usefulness for Pakistan... hes against creation of Pakistan as he mentioned in one of the threads since it was created by a democrartic process of elections..

Re: i hate asma jehangir

Absolutely. Musharraf has been great for Pakistan

The creation of Pakistan was a mistake. The combined muslim populations of india, pakistan and bangladesh would have been over 500 million. A united india with half a billion muslims would have been a super-power.

The only people cheering for the creation of pakistan were muslim extremists and hindu extremists.

But now that Pakistan has been created, I support Pakistan.

And defend Pakistan from people like you.

Re: i hate asma jehangir

Just check how much hate has developed against an institution like army just for the sake of few top generals.. the way the nation celebrated CJ judgement is a landmark in Pak history..
