Mr. Omer Asghar Khan was :
- a social activist,
- a development consultant,
- well-known peace supporter,
- environment activist
- supporter of female, small farmers and workers’ issues
- author of people’s movements for restoration of their rights,
- a veteran politician, very capable and dead honest person
- author of the Local Government System introduced recently in Pakistan,
- a formal federal minister for Local Government & Rural Development, Environment,
Labour & Manpower and Overseas Pakistan - Founder and elected President of Qaumi Jamhoori Party, a very different political party
to provide an alternate platform to the disadvantaged groups of Pakistan - very verastile and popular figure of the country
He was killed by unknown murderes on the night of 25th June 2002 and the local police declared it a suicide???
I am enclosing a statement of former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Gohar Zaman, about the murder of Mr. Omer Asghar Khan. This is self-explanatory and needs the support of all conscious people around the world. We should demand from Gen. Pervez Musharraf, President & Chief Executive of Pakistan, to set-up a judicial commission to enquire into the above case. Perhaps such killings could be traced and punished otherwise people like Omer Asghar Khan, who are born once in decades, will be snatched from us and the world will be becoming more and more dangerous and unfit for living.
