I posted up at the end of the WC that I won my companies world cup fantasy football league, now they decided to do a group v group tournament instead of 1 v 1 for the premiership which will last 2 months. Every group is meant to have a “team manager”. Everyone in my group elected me cause obviously I am awesome, but today the names of team managers were published and guess what? I’ve not been put in as team manager but someone else in my group who finished near the bottom in the world cup fantasy league was elected.
I’m really annoyed and pissed off. How can I be passed up, I obviously know my stuff. I destoyed all these peasants during the world cup. I think it’s all intentional since i’ve been a rebel at work lately..
O wow, plz tell me you are not quitting this job only due to this?! good luck! and make sure you switch job, not just quit if you know wut i mean :)
This is just adding to everything else. I got enough savings, don't really need this job to survive. It's not my career. My career is a few years away..
Southie- the bridges are a 2 sided thing. You can leave in as pleasant and professional manner as possible but if the people are jackasses then you can't do much about it. They will burn the bridge after you leave.
X2 that may be true. Remember that there is no one "they". There may be some individuals who be jackasses and bad mouth you. The company as an entity wouldn't do that.
It is best to do ones part. And be professional. What others do is not within our control. But we should take care of the basics that are within our control - such as not to burn bridges, IMO.

For me, company and individuals are the same thing. Everyone a company employs means every action you do within your workplace reflects on the company as a whole. Even when you complain and they do nothing about it, it speaks volumes. I know my value, and I couldn't care less about burning this bridge.
Knowing ones value has nothing to do with not burning bridges. I hope some other person reading this thread doesn't fall into the same trap. One has the option to leave. When one does that, there is no reason to piss people off, be a rebel and get instant gratification.
When things are going well, it is easy to behave professionally.
How one reacts to adverse circumstances is how one's professionalism is gauged.
Getting the opinion of a 50 plus yr old who has been around the block a few times is called for here.

I've been a rebel since the day I started. That's just me. Can't change who I am, but when it comes to being professional I should get an A+.
Want FOAB? or what u may say ATBIP? I can get u pretty cheap these days. Go with a BANG.
Ok on a more serious note... u got rejected. U r at the end of your line. Some colleagues are mean/jealouse of your fantasy exploits, or they just dont like you. Who knows? I dont know you so cant tell. May be u are extremely irritating... who knows? Yeah??? But...
But, if i were you, I would show humility and grace of the highest levels my bladder could have able to store in my life time. You dont have to act according to what they are assuming you would do. When you leave them in high astute, believe me, they will sh-- their pants.
Its not about bridges... Its much more than that. Its about you and your standards, against them all.
