atleast i THINK i did. i’m pretty sure these are raspberries but i’m not certain. i’ve been living in this house for about 5 years and i’ve never seen these bushes appear before, nor has anyone in my family planted raspberry seeds. i picked a few out and tasted one of them, i have a good feeling is it a raspberry but i don’t know for sure because i don’t really eat fruit. it tasted sour and berry-ish to me? i have a couple of questions.
firstly, ARE these raspberries?
secondly, are they safe to eat just like that? (after washing ofcourse)
thirdly, there are a LOT of them, so i will be picking the ones that are fully grown, daily. how do i preserve them? where can i store them? do i just pick them out and refrigerate them?
and lastly, anyone know any good raspberry recipes?
yeah id have someone who knows plants well check it out - plus arent raspberries called Shaituut in urdu? because i remember we used to have trees back in pakistan - i could be talking about something else -
Hmmm, they don't look like british raspberries, thats for sure. What r boysenberries? Do u think this may b a wild variety of them? Our rasberries are not shiny or this shade of orangey red. Ours are more matt and pinkish colour, with tiny hairs on each bump.
If they taste good and u haven't had any bad effects, I say EAT AWAY!!! Make jam from them? Add them to juices? If they r sour, make chutney out of them. They r probably a really good source of vitamin C.
^i just tasted one of them..i haven''t started eating them because i want to know for sure if they're safe to eat. i asked a couple of people but they have no idea. and the jam and juice sounds like a great idea!
do you have a home depot or something near you? most ppl in the gardening section would know a thing or two about common berries.
these look like raspberries but i dont think they are the same kind i get in the grocery store here.
those don’t look raspberries, but they definitely look like blackberries, except for the orange part haha
seriously though, their shape and look is very blackberry-ish.
canadian raspberries look like the UK ones that RH described.
oh gosh i adore raspberries and blackberries, i have been picking and eating them from the garden since they have ripened. However these are not raspberries they are as inspiron said, unripe blackberries and blackberries are red when unripe. I have lots of these in my garden and they will ripen over the coming month! Yummy in tarts, jams, crumbles, chutneys, fruit salad, smoothies and countless other things! Eat away!
