I figured I'm not the only one who thinks as such

Re: I figured I’m not the only one who thinks as such

^ imy first day of HS, there was this senior or junior grl there, who wud change into a burka before she left school (we had to wear uniforms) n she was talkin to my mom (who wud wait outside forme) n jus said “Allah will burn you” :disgust: Tht was my first encounter wit a hijabi :halo:

Re: I figured I'm not the only one who thinks as such

tell me about it :-(
Currently I'm on a mission to not have mehndi/show of clothes to the rest of the guests at the mehndi / sit like a freakin' idiot so ppl can feed you ladoos ARGH but after the constant battle with my mom I have realized that it is a battle I will not win but something inside me still irks me to carry on fighting
:-D haha!

I have realized after a lot of bickering back and forth that there are certain things that I can change about my parents and at other times they prove totally stubborn.
I haven't yet learned to pick my battles though.

:smack:

see I don’t get the stereotype! I was the first hijabi in my school who actually jumped in a soccer field and played soccer with guys. I was most of the time goofy/loud and God knows what BUT i had my limits too. There is a difference between Islamic limitations and your personality. Yes, the kind of person I am..one person can never i think think of hijabi like that. But Hey, thats me and I can’t stop being me. And thats how most Non-Muslims are close to me and trying to come to the circle of Islam. And btw I am hijabi for only 3 yrs now…

Re: I figured I’m not the only one who thinks as such

u gettin married? congrats :hugz:

Re: I figured I'm not the only one who thinks as such

i totally agree with you Sadiyah. I have kept myself away from the desi culture as well. I have learned to embrass Islam...that is my culture, my religion, my everything.

Re: I figured I'm not the only one who thinks as such

aww sisterhoood...haha

actually you guys must differentiate between the muslim "looking" hijabis and the "practicing" hijabis.

its night and day difference. :)
that does not mean it gives you the right to judge anyone for that matter, before doing so...observe yourself.

salam

Re: I figured I'm not the only one who thinks as such

^how to differenciate between muslim looking hijabi and practicing hijabi??

Re: I figured I'm not the only one who thinks as such

^ Her behavior, the way she treats others, how she looks (if she looks self confident, or arrogant or humble)

Re: I figured I’m not the only one who thinks as such

Whats the purpose of hijaab if u play soccer with guys.

Re: I figured I'm not the only one who thinks as such

how? just the way you would differentiate any muslim...a muslim by birth...or one that follows their deen.

takes one to know one ; ) I have been on the both sides of the pole.

edit: plus, there is only so much you can do by just looking at people...one can never estimate the level of faith...only Allah (swt) can do so.

Re: I figured I'm not the only one who thinks as such

ha, well you are right bro..but she said that it was in her early days...when she just started observing hijab. its tough going cold turkey...change comes gradually if the intentions are there. :) iA

Thanks for your input: I thought it will simple someting like the one with jeans and tshirt and the one with long dress, one can hear both of them from a distance constantly repeating Brother Alhamdulillah and Inshallah anyway was just curious not that i will be talking to one ever in life.

Re: I figured I'm not the only one who thinks as such

thank god my family have neva been big on culture, customs, superstitions etc.
life is tough as it is, why make it more complexed with extra burdens? Islam is a way of life, a complete one! all we need is common sense and logic, which are both in danger of extinction.

Re: I figured I’m not the only one who thinks as such

I agree, desi culture sucks BUT what are we doing to chagne it?

If it weren’t for our desi culture, most of us wouldn’t even have the luxury (or the inclination) to spend hours sitting on our beep registering complaints about every little thing on some desi forum- practically making a career out of it, having been kicked out of the house at 18. Ok?

Re: I figured I'm not the only one who thinks as such

^ Yes, of course. Us desi youth are the only ones blessed with the Internet who surf and post on forums. The remainder of the non-desi population is not even familiar with the Internet let alone message boards/forums. They were all thrown on the streets at 18 and have been begging and living on welfare since then.

Re: I figured I’m not the only one who thinks as such

:DLOL not true!!!
i’m not desi…and i’m here:halo:

only jerks do that:(…
