AsSalaamo Alaikum!
I am starting to realize why the wives feel a sense of superiority, and on the rare instance allow the husbands to borrow that sense when dealing utensils (Chefs do not quality, they’re pros either way).
It’s Saturday today. I woke up at a leisurely late hour of the morning because there is no scheduled work today. The morning started in the order of an Iced Coffee with cream and sugar with caramel swirl. The choice of cold brew to wake up the senses was deliberate; it’s far too hot on this day and in this season to be foolin’ around with piping hot beverages. The chilled brew was just right, and after waking up I felt the kindred sense of urgency to buy pet food so my pals can have a hearty breakfast before I do. After the pet-feed run, I started to feel the need to eat.
Weekends are ideal for adventurism in-house and out. So, I hit up youtube to look up how to make scrambled eggs. I’m not a fan of eggs most days, but once in a while I like to indulge. I found a whole collection of “best, bester, bestest way to make scrambled eggs”, but my needs were simple, and the quickest route was most desired. I found Titli’s Kitchen youtube channel and it just blew my mind. Firstly because she says Salaam Alaikum and finishes the video with a Khuda Haafiz…she shows how to make scrambled eggs without needing a chemist degree, and uses the microwave, and the entire mission completes within 3 minutes from start to finish. Yes! That’s the winner of the bunch. So, after watching the video, I followed her technique…um…almost precisely. I’m still a little green, so I messed up a little but end product was still the same’ish.
How I did it:
Two Grade A Large eggs.
1 empty bowl.
A “dab” of butter
A little bit of milk
A little bit of salt, and pepper (herbs, optional)
I put the eggs in the bowl with the butter, and mixed them real well with a fork until the yolk was fully dissolved in the mixture. I then poured in a little bit of milk (measured by sight to be ‘a little bit’). And the put the bowl in the microwave and timed it for 40 seconds. Walked away for a few minutes. Came back when the timer sounded off. Took the bowl out of the microwave, and noticed the mixture was starting to get warm and remembered I was supposed to put in Salt and Pepper (herbs optional). So proceeded to add a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Moved the mixture around in the bowl with the fork. Replaced the bowl in microwave for another 40 second. Repeat the same process, move the mixture around the bowl, then replace for another 40 seconds. With each cycle of microwave, the consistency of the egg mixture was starting to become familiar in how scrambled eggs look, I could now start to smile having found that I’m on the right path to a successful end. With one more cycle of a 40 second microwave, the scrambled eggs were done. The mixture was now a soft solid, but broke easily with fork.
It made for a nice scrambled egg sandwich, with scrambled egg spared to be consumed without bread. Breakfast served!
Oh the sense of pride that comes with having transformed one thing into another. It has been a good morning so far, and hopes are high for rest of the afternoon. Project Scramble was a success this morning. This victory will be long remembered, and logged in the register of previous won battles of utensils.
Brothers, respect the culinary authoritah and remember to thank the Mrs’es for they have some awesome skills. :jhanda:
