Looking at the scorecard of this Test and the last Test of Sa vs NZ I dun see our batting lineup surviving against this awesome bowling attack on bouncy pitches of Africa

Its a scary thought overall

Don’t expect Pakistan to beat SA in SA in the test series. I believe that presently only two teams have the ability to do that - England and Australia (these two teams have won a test series in SA in the recent past) mainly because their batsmen generally do better than sub-continental batsmen in South African conditions. Pak bowling is not an issue.

but Pakistan is not NewZealand either!

The last time we played them in SA it was a close series (lost 1-2). won the second test in Port Elizabeth HowSTAT! Match Scorecard

This will be Misbah and Pakistan’s first real challenge since the 2010 series in England

If the South Africans are at the top of their game right now, they do deserve to win. Pakistan needs to stop relying on bowlers alone. A winning team has to perform decently in all departments, including batting and fielding.

it will be a tough series but I dont think they will walk all over Pakistan like thy have over NZ. The difference being the bowling. WE have equally if not better bowling attack than SA. It will be close series with SA just holding the edge.

We have only won two tests in SA and both by the brilliance of Shoaib Akhtar the man was a pure match winner for us on his day

I hope they will have fast bouncy pitches ready. Our batsmen will probably pee in their pants but our young fast bowlers should enjoy this tour.

which is still better than our recent performances in Australia. lost all 9 games during the last trip there in 2009/10

The other test win was mainly due to Mushtaq Ahmed - match figures of 9/149 (a spinner winning a test in RSA!). Shoaib bowled well in the first innings

SL and India have managed to pull off a win in SA in their last tours

Inshallah if batsmen grind out their innings and newbe's like Azhar try to make an innings then there is a chance of a drawn series or even better!

Misbah willnbe the key. He is a good pressure player and can frustrate the bowling with solid defense - which is a plus in Test format. Younis K will also be key due to same resaon.

Was impressed with Shoaib Malik and Nasir Jamshed technique ( granted it was against them Indian gentle trundlers). Hafeez also a good performer under pressure.

The problem lies in the Technique and Temprament of our batters and i think that's where the series outcome will be decided ..... not to forget the Fielding ..... with more bounce more catches are coming ur way especially in the Slip, Gully and Point region

U can't afford to drop PPL like Amla, Kallis and deVilliers

It is not only a question of technique but also of exposure to such conditions. Sub-continental batsmen just don't get to play on such bouncy and seaming tracks at home and have to learn it the hard way i.e. when they play abroad or play county cricket etc. How the hell will you learn if you just haven't played your initial cricket on such tracks?

Kallis, Amla, Cook, Pietersen, Ponting etc. would have faced the same problem abroad if they had played their initial cricket exclusively on sub-continental pitches

I sometimes wonder why we cannot produce such pacy and seaming tracks in the sub-continent. The northern areas of both India and Pakistan have english-type weather all the year round (why can't we have grounds/training facilities there?) and if soil is an issue then why don't we just import soil from other countries

It is mostly hot in South Africa (40-45 degree centigrade) yet they are able to produce such tracks! So why can't we in the sub-continent?
