This is what Rida Aftab, a cooking show host/chef said on one of her shows. She said “mujhay mard pakatay huey achay nahee lagtay” (I don’t like men who cook).
Is this a territorial issue with some women? I know that most women would appreciate their men cook for them once in a blue moon but what if the man is doing more than 50% of the cooking? Would that make some women feel insecure? Would they consider their man to be less “manly” for doing something that is considered woman’s domain primarily? Would it affect your relationship?
I like men who cook but I hate men who cook and do nothing else...
lemme give you an example:
This dude we know, nice guy, you go to his home, he makes the best haleem. He spends 3-4 hours putting in the masalas while splashing about. No doubt the haleem is good. But you make him work hard for a living...uh no, he can't even do a regular 8 hour shift without getting tired. His wife works physically harder than him.
I applaud my husband who works full time and somehow still musters up the energy to cook once in a while.
Does him cooking make me feel insecure? No!
Do i consider him less manly? No!
Does it make me a bad wife? Maybe :o
Anyway, some of the best chefs in the world are men… i believe we should change the stereotype of women being the cooks of the household… it’s evidently a man’s domain.

She is a brat!
She has probably never lived out of Pakistan and is not worldly educated enough.
In Pakistan - Men don't have to cook because their wives are at home or there are cooks.
Here - it's a different story. The family's "oneness" becomes greater when hubby helps out! And uff! If he knows how to cook then he is THE MAN TO KEEP!
Totally find men sexy in the kitchen with all flour and masalas over them on their apron! lol
(Nik - I understand your point too. If man only cooks - then it suxs. They are not sexy from any which way you look at them).
I speak only for myself when I say that I hate when my husband cooks because it means I've done a poor job of what i'm supposed to do....then again, it has more to do with attitudes than anything else. Otherwise i dont see any problem in men cooking.
NJM, do you think it's only the women who cook really good do not like their men to cook? And those women who barely can cook a dish the same way twice WANT their men to cook, especially if the man cooks better?
