Christopher Columbus is credited of having ‘discovered’ America…
My question is: How can anyone ‘discover’ something which is already has people living there? Unless of course you consider them a non-entity worth nought…
It’s like me walking into someone’s home and saying, “I discovered this house and now it’s mine…”
As result of this logic, I too ‘discovered’ America…
Yeah, modern Historians and Philosophers say Colombus discovered America for the Europeans and Africans and Asians (minus the Siberio-AmeriIndians that were present there).
Together with the fact that we barely know anything about the Siberio-AmeriIndians that were present in America except for the Aztec and Inka civilization. Archeologists discovered the Maya and Olmec and other minor civilizations as well. However for the most part the North American Natives were the counterparts to the Sub Saharan Africans ~ they were living in Confederacies and Tribes and Hunting and Farming.
Also, Polynesians (phillipino types) and other east asians are said to have arrived from the East to the Americans, landing in modern day Chile/Bolivia/Colombia Coast.
At the turn of the 1st Millennia, Muslim cartographers had already mapped the east coast. That is, several hundred years before Columbus. A museum in Turkey houses one of the early maps dated as 10th century. Along with being established scientists and mathematiciansand philosphers, Muslims dominated the world of travel. Names of various geographical regions are based on the original Arabic names. eg Gibralter - Gibr-ul-Tariq - Mt of Tariq Sabirea- Sabr - patience (due to cold) Hawaii- Hawa- Wind. Mogadishu- Muqad - i - shah - Base of the King.
