How’d you respond to a douche like that?
I can’t mock the person, my usual resort, as this is a bit of a professional setting.
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
That was a real problem for me you know, getting A- instead of A or A*
:(
Tell em that you wish you could stay and listen but you need to go cos your diamond shoes are hurting you a bit and you need to email Bill Gates :/
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
why do their high standards offend u.

And blow away the thin cover of being sane that I have managed to pull over their eyes? :(
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
lol ![]()
I would ignore. Such people want attention and they want others to tell how smart they are
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
dont respond
why do you think you have to respond or react to it
tell them not to tell you this next time
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
Sounds like the person is a bit needy and wants you to say, "Oh that's not so bad......most people would be thrilled to get an A......look at the bright side."
Why not say it?
Caress their ego a bit.....what harm can it do?
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
Well this is not the first time they are needing caressing. I have done this in the past, but it's getting tiring.
So I did what all mature people do: I responded with :(:(:( (yes three sad faces)
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
I had a huge loss in business this year. I was expecting the profit of 100k and I only had profit of 75k

Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
Thanks God, we dont have such thing as +/-
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
one of the rare times i'd actually tell someone to eff off.
i agree with Le and Muzna
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
At least the person realizes that he/she bombed the final & doesn't behave like an entitled brat who deserves nothing less than an A+. End Rant - yes, I deal with'em routinely.
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
^ is it true if u make a face with tears pouring out of ur eyes saying .. " sorry I completely blanked out" .. do u guys consider giving at least partial credit?
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
You shoulda said "Gosh youi're stupid!!" and laughed and then walked off laughing.
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
good question. LC please do tell. I proctor exams for uni students and I have noticed some will write notes to the professor but I don’t know if it makes a difference.
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
Only if prof has the hots for you, or the TA.
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
the son of one of the 'uncles' i know once said to his Dad [disrespectful though!]..."If you want me to get an A[SUP]+ [/SUP]so badly then why don't you go back to school and get one for yourself!, so stop bugging me!" :(
Re: I did poorly, got an A instead of A+ as I bombed the final
Don’t do it!! Ever!
Recently finished reading a book by Donald Asher, the graduates/job-seekers guru. He gave real life examples of 3 graduates who included little gifts with their applications for grad school. One included a large homemade cookie and the note stated “Please take a break to enjoy this cookie as you review my application.” The other included a handwritten note from the applicant’s baby sister that stated “Please accept by big sister’s application”. I forget what the third one did. But yeah all these applications were refused.
“Bribing” or emotionally blackmailing or whatever you may wanna call it, isn’t going to work with any sane professor.

That's for grad school applications and sending a gift is out of line. I am referring to undergraduate students who will write a little note to their professors. My brother told me he asked a question during an exam and his professor literally gave him the answer. Only because the two had previous one-on-one conversations. So, depending who writes the note and what the note says I think professors may be influenced by it. I've heard if its someone's last year and they really need to pass a course to graduate professors will bump their grade up by a little - just enough to let them pass.
