Lahore is Lahore … !
Re: I challenged Lahore Eat to satisfy my Lahori appetite
what did you try?
One thing I found that in most cases, such festivals provide food at extra high prices (beyond masses reach). If they can’t cater masses, what is the purpose of such festivals?
I just read in the article that there was an entry fee of Rs 200 /250 per person. So a family of four should pay Rs 1000 to enter the venue.
From the link:
Now is it necessary that a family should bargain with security walas that they can’t afford entry.
Moral of the story: such festival are chichora mazaq with a society, where people can’t feed their children properly and there are festival, which just consumed entry ticket price for which they can have their meals or at least ration for a week.*
I totally agree. Tasting stuff at different stall with a family of 4 was a straight 4-5000rs ki duzz ! 3 Samosay for 200rs and churro for 150rs was joke. Awaam ko ullu bananay kay naye tareeqay and people rushed to be a part of it for a show off.

I would rather like be tagged adam baizar for not attending such festivals, to avoid fazool kharchi. People do rush towards such festivals as it is kinda status symbol to attend such festivals or places. Even I didn't like the idea of Port Grand , Karachi, where they charge you entry ticket (which can be adjusted against food price), but prices are so high. I mean, ghareeb ko to jeene ka koi haq hi nahin. Even, with advent of multiplexes, poor people can't even watch a movie. Just imagine Rs 500+ ticket for a person earning Rs 20,000-30,000 a month.

So much money for nicely wrapped 'street food', eh? You are better off going to androon Lahore to any roadside restaurant and get much better quality of food.
My cousins in Pakistan used to think that taking me to McDonalds or KFC would be proper nice little treat or dine out experience for me, but then you have to politely remind them that you have not flown seven oceans to come to an exotic country to eat McDonald fries, you know! Allow the burgers, where are the qeemey wale naaans, lol!
I always preferred ganney da juice from roadside vendor over coke/pepsi. They thought I was such a walaytee paindoo.
