Agreed :) That's my personal favorite Stones tune also. Practically every band has covered it :D

Yes, that is very true. Some are truly horrible. Doing a cover song exactly like the original defeats it’s purpose, so it’s important that there should be some differentiation between the song, which is relative to the band’s style. However, sometimes bands do a horrible job at it by creating too much of a difference that you can’t even tell what song it is

I don't know about other places, but they seem to be popular down South....

Here in Montreal, the hey day of cover bands were in the mid 90's. Every club in town had a cover band playing practically every night. There are some great cover bands out there. I've seen about 6 different Kiss cover bands which were excellent to say the least (complete with makeup, pyrotechnics, and theatrics). 2 or 3 Black Sabbath and Ozzy cover bands, an excellent Pink Floyd cover band called "Eclipse". I've also Seen Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, Dio, AC/DC cover bands as well as others.

They're still around, but definitely not as popular as they were in the 90's. Cover bands are cool to see when the "real thing" doesn't come to town as often. It's the next best thing I guess.
