I can finally relate - Do you have similar feelings for Pakistan Cricket?

This thread won’t make sense to everyone here. Sorry.
With Inzi’s retirement from ODI Cricket, I have this feeling of alienation from cricket now. I feel really really old. Man!.
So I can finally relate to those old guns who were literally die hard cricket lovers, like one of my maternal uncles (mammoos) who even played Club cricket in Paksitan. They showed interest when a match was on in an important tournament, but were never too upset when Pakistan lost or when some player showed poor performance. I hate this feeling.

He (Inzimam ul Haq of Multan) was the last known player from the HEROES of DAYS GONE BY CRICKET of Pakistan. And I know, fans such as Ehsan (maybe the only one from KK in that league) who would think of a larger ERA from their own perspective.

However, having grown up seeing the cricketers of the past playing, I could still relate to the overly Glitterized, glamorized, publicized and monetarized NEW world of cricket, because one from the ‘SO CALLED’ past heroes of Pakistan was still playing cricket. Namely Inzimam.

I remember the time, Muddasir Nazar used to come to bat or when Tauseef used to bowl and be the “TAIL ENDER”. When we would consider post match comments of Mustaq Mohammed, Zaheer Abbass as best explanations for a certain loss or win.
The days, when Qasim Omar (although short lived) would hit a run from the edge of his bat and Kiss it in defiance of the oppositions luck. The days when Javed and Imran were young and emerging players. When Mohsin Khan was considered the Filmstar rebel of Pakistan cricket.
Even the era of the 2Ws in the wake of the 92 WC, had a distinction that was too profoundly seperating of Pakistan from world cricket.
I mean there was an AURA, an ambiance associated with Pakistan Cricket. It was not too commercial. I admit, there was money associated. But it was not just money. Please don’t read into this as if I am suggesting that the new players only care about money. Some of them will truly have national pride as their motivation to play.

I don’t know whether I will ever be as passionate about Pakistani cricketers of the future as I was in the past.

Re: I can finally relate - Do you have similar feelings for Pakistan Cricket?

This thread does make sense :bummer:

but I dun agree with the last line…

We’ve got enough talent.. let’s pray that some Imran is their to point out an Inzi soon.

Re: I can finally relate - Do you have similar feelings for Pakistan Cricket?

Tony cozier yesterday during prize distribution ceremony saw "one giant going and one coming..." He was referring to Imran Nazir. I agree with him onlly partially.

Re: I can finally relate - Do you have similar feelings for Pakistan Cricket?

The current feeling is precisely as such, mentioned above. Being alienated from cricket is not a very attractive option as being disunited from close family members and friends, which, in retrospect, is taking a negative toll on their own personalities and mindsets. The entire ordeal have been a mental and physical torture from every aspect.

It makes complete sense. This thread, in time, will hope to be a starting point in life itself.

Re: I can finally relate - Do you have similar feelings for Pakistan Cricket?

Yea this thread totally makes sense.
I'm sure we will see good players in future. lets hope for the best.

and you will find the same passion again - lets just wait till the ball starts rolling again.

Re: I can finally relate - Do you have similar feelings for Pakistan Cricket?

nonetheless, it will be injustice not to miss inzi for the rest of the life...

Boys played well :)

Re: I can finally relate - Do you have similar feelings for Pakistan Cricket?

I highly doubt that. Nazir is not that good.

Re: I can finally relate - Do you have similar feelings for Pakistan Cricket?

^ I agree with you. His inning of 150+ was full of chances, it was his second century, both centuries came against Zimbabwe in caribbean 7 years apart. He is tullay baa*j* like Shewag, Afridi.

Re: I can finally relate - Do you have similar feelings for Pakistan Cricket?

^ but I wont reject him either. If he could produce innings of 60s and 70s, which I am sure if he does, will be quick, than he could still be carried with the team.

Re: I can finally relate - Do you have similar feelings for Pakistan Cricket?

^ He might be able to do that every after 10 matches. Good luck.

Re: I can finally relate - Do you have similar feelings for Pakistan Cricket?

Imran Nazir as the future Inzi !!

Whoever said this, needs to visit a Shrink right now...I dont care about his cricket credentials.
