Only Muslims know that the Kalima is sacred which also makes anything it is written on sacred. Because the flag has kalima on it, it cannot be put on the ground, or mishandled. Imagine all the countries where the Saudi flag is hoisted, do you think they know or care to handle it properly? I have seen the Saudi flag being waved around during soccer games. That is the height of disrespect to the Kalima. Not only that, but it gets printed in books, newspapers and magazines. Do you think anyone cares to handle those properly?
Saudi Arabia should have thought about this before putting it on their flag. There is no requirement to put the Kalima on the flag. I don’t think anyone is getting any special blessing by having it on their flag.
All valid points. Same could be said about Quran-e-paak, it's treated as just 'another' book in the libraries worldwide when it isn't just another book on a shelf!
Re: I believe it's very irresponsible of Saudi Arabia to have the Kalima on their fla
Well saudi arabia is in the wrong having it on the flag, but for libraries... they're mostly secular... so they really don't need to display the Quran in any special way.
Re: I believe it's very irresponsible of Saudi Arabia to have the Kalima on their fla
^ Okay, you dont need to exagerate the issue. No ones putting the Saudi flag under the shoes or treating it as a purana kapra!
The flag is not meant for any of those things, so theres nothing wrong with putting the kalma on something that is meant to be respected by the masses and held up high. If however someone does it, than thats the person doing it who is at fault.
The kalima as someone's already stated it is an idealogy and should be treated as such.
Re: I believe it's very irresponsible of Saudi Arabia to have the Kalima on their fla
This issue is a two-edged sword, similar to using the words Allah, Muhammad and different Ayahs, hadiths and their explanations in newspapers.
Though writing them is educating common people about Islamic teachings. But the problem is that such news papers are then used for "pikoras and samosas" and finally thrown. In some places coming under the feet of people.
BUT this doesn't mean we should stop writing it in newspaper. We should try our level best to prevent disrespect.
In case of flags, well flags do represent a nation, but I am not sure how strongly does writing anything on it impacts the people of a nation. It might also depend on how serious do people take them. e.g. Turks take the red color on their flag very seriously, a symbol of the blood their forefathers sacrificed for their nation.
So you are ok with throwing it around, put it beneath shoes, wave it around, wear it as clothes, and when it's old use it as a purana kapra?
but I also wont go hunt ppl who intentionally do it.
If I m not wrong prophet his self said "if kabaa is being destroyed an a person is dying we ought to save person's life"
I mean qur'an's miracle is not being sacred or its magical powers, I believe miracle is its message.
Yes it will be pain full for me too but I wont react!!!
:)......Yes you all have a valid point.....soccer match is no place to wave a holy symbol.....
but if we check with the scholars....this practice came from Rasul Allah's (PBUH) time...........The Flag during battle was Black with Kalima in White letters........
but I also wont go hunt ppl who intentionally do it.

Who said anything about hunting people down or forcefully demanding respect from people? Where did I say that? I am merely pointing out that it is disrespectful to the kalima to put it on a flag and wave it around.

Maybe the person is at fault, but how do we know that person even knows or cares? Saudi Arabia invited that disrespect by putting it on the flag to begin with.
BTW, what happens to all those Pakistani flag decorations that are hung up during August 14th? Whose feet do they end up under?
