Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
Interesting how sarcastic remarks are made towards those who observe hijab, but somehow not towards non-hijabis; as if they are somehow exempt from the Islamic obligations.
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
there are soooo many poems mocking non-hijabis.
The amount of times ive received forwarded emails containing childish poems about how non-hijabis are like this or that is nothing compared to this..
the post by Khumar was sarcasm.. but poems received (and posted in Religion) are hardly that.
anyways, am sorry.. dont wanna sound mean or anything. Its just people are taking khumar’s post too seriously (and yes, i do understand why)
apologies ![]()
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
If a thread of this nature would have been posted targeting non-hijabis, I'm sure there must've been an uproar. The entire GS would've been here giving sermons on how shallow it is to post sarcastic material against non-hijabis.
We all need to learn to respect each other.
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
^i dont think so.
There have been innumerable threads opened in religion targeting non-hijabis. And its always been like "yes.. totally agree" "Subhanallah" "Mashallah.. what a lovely post"
Yes, maybe if it were opened in H&R or General, u'd get a different type of response.. similarly if this thread was opened in Religion, a completely different kind of audience would have responded..
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
I don't really recall hijabis bashing non-hijabis in religion forum and chanting SubhanAllah and Masha'Allah.
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
I thought that had to do with Islam and not the hijab. But hey color me crazy i thought the mehram and non-mehram had nothing to do with the hijab and everything to do with Islam.
But hey if its ok to have a boyfriend if you don’t wear a hijab are any of you non-hijabans single? Alot fo GS guys are desperate. Do humanity a favour will ya?
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
A favour? I am single and I am non-hijaban…but still it’s not ok for me to have a boyfriend:mad: so if some GS guys are so desperate…they can take a cool shower…or they can also think seriously about marrying…
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
Couldnt have agreed more with your comments in this thread.
For the rest of the folks:
Anyway its quite simple. A Hijab is not just a head covering. It is a way of life. The ones who dont understand that, now is a great time to learn. Dont give the bs about hijabis dating. You have a lot of messed up women who dont observe hijab yet take part in pathetic things.
A hijab isnt a magic wand that will make the hijaban 100% perfect. Get over it. Yes they should set examples, but dont mire the innocents when a few act like fools.
Some hijabans might be making mistakes, dont inform us that all or even most are like that. Get your heads checked if you think so.
And just because a woman is religious or takes on the hijab doesnt mean she thinks she is above the ones who dont. Thats only what YOU folks think, not the so called hijabans in question.
And the ones who dont wear hijab, why the heck are you all worked up with the ones who do? You should be happy with your decisions to not wear hijab, so why the insecurity when a hijaban comes into question?
I honestly dont know why I even bother shedding sense around here.
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
Actually, you can do a search and see there have been threads posted from both sides against each other, particularly in the Religion forum with such comments as Sadzzz has mentioned.
Personally, I’m a non-hijabi and I don’t really care if you wear a hijab or not. What matters is your personality. Some of my closest Muslim girlfriends wear a hijab, and the reason why our friendship has literally lasted for years is because we respect each other and look at each others’ personalities instead of judging each other. There is no preaching or moral high ground from either of us. It’s about mutual respect and looking deeper into a person’s character.
Problems will always arise when one starts to preach (yes preach, not teach) and force views onto others, regardless of what that particular issue is. I tend to stay away from such people, be it hijabi girls or non-hijabi. Nobody likes smugness or arrogance … and most people will resist it. Fortunately, I have only come across a few individuals like this.
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
now wait a second…i think im already a GS bigshot..
…i dont need to reveal the abcd hypocrisy to get there..
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
Desi men fool around with women all the time, and yet when they want to marry - they want a pious (virgin) women.
Wear a hijab ladies, and fool them instead.
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
So just to get back at the men for their perfidious nature women should lose their virginity…
Wah! Great way to serve justice…:k:
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
i might be wrong... but not a lot of women wore hijab in pakistan... why is that? but, it seems to be something getting popular with paki women here.... especially the american born ones.
at the end of the day.. you have to give it to them. it takes a lot of guts to wear it everywhere. i can only imagine all the ignorant questions and the stares they get because of it.
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
Actually untrue Lolly. It is extremely common in Indonesian and Malaysia the most liberal Islamic societies. In my opinion the one societies that can be described as Islamic. The rest are heretical.
It is very common in the UK, oddly enough it is common in France and Germany that is they placed laws which violate the Geneva conventions.
It is media and the misrepresentation that the hijab is not common that gets us. The Hijab is more common than you think.
Re: I am thinking of taking on the Hijab
CM, I havent been to Indonesia or Malaysia... but I grew up in Pakistan. Islamabad to be exact. From schools to places of work, women wore a dupatta and it lurked around on the shoulders mostly. the dupatta covers nothing... so i wonder why they bother with it.
In villages of punjab which I also travelled it was the same story. I saw very few women wear a burqa when they went out. But, I havent been back in 10 yrs so things might have become more conservative since.
