^ awwie. I guess you are either born with it or need someone like your mom/dad to show u a danda and keep you organized :D. Lol. thankgod i was born with it so no danda for me :nono:.
On a serious note, you just have to make a habbit of it. Take it step by step and you wl eventually get a hold of it.
How do i do it? Well i have folders assigned for things like medical record, academical record, cutting from newspapers/mags, atm receipts, etc etc and i get them arranged in the folder without any delay. Same like, my closet is kept organised with casuals on 1 side and formals on the other. Just about everything and anything at all has to be organized in my room otherwise i get irritated even if the notepad on the side table is not kept aligned, it wl irritate me or if even the remote is kept upside down. Lol. According to some people its a disorder but for me its just a necessity.
If you get severely anxious like if the remote is upside down then you feel like something bad is going to happen - then actually yes it can be classed as a disorder - but I dont think you have that?
ANyway I could learn a few things for you like Have folders for everything. Why do I not have folders. :sigh:
Procrastinator extraordinaire here, so you’re in good company. Like right now, I’m pissing away time on GS that would otherwise be spent doing something productive. Like sleeping. First find out why you’re procrastinating - boredom, fear of failure, you hate your job, etc, then find a way to overcome it.
I’m told the fastest way to break this habit is to prioritize your tasks in order of significance + time-sensitivity, and then tackle the most important thing on your to-do list, first. You’ll be tempted to start with things that can wait, like sorting your desk, dusting, or stacking books (“getting organized”), but that’s another way of resisting the inevitable. If the task in question is too big/daunting, pick 1 thing that you can complete in 5 minutes, like make a quick phone call or pay a bill. Once that’s done and you’ve gained a little confidence, jump into whatever you’re avoiding like the plague. Just take a deep breath and do it.
ps. Studies show that how you start your day sets the tone for the rest of the day. So if you successfully complete a task first thing in the morning, even if it’s small, your productivity will spike.
Inspi get those beautiful coloured folders with dividers and stick-on notes. You’d love the feel of them. Sit down on some weekend or whenever you get free time. Try get all your papers sorted and stacked neatly. If the job’s well done am sure at least a month would go by without you messing it up again because you’d be loving the results yourself
I am pretty disorganised myself but I can’t stand clutter so after like 2 3 weeks when things are about to go off board I manage to clean and organise everything all over again lol
I think I hide away from daunting/large tasks. Like if there is a long form to fill out then I leave it until I am in trouble for not doing it. I dont organise my bank statements because looking at them is daunting. I just avoid it!
Its a seriously bad habit that needs to be addressed.
At the moment I have 2 large important applications to fill out regarding student finance.
I also have to start looking at my job applications. They got released on monday and have to be in on friday the 21st. Its not wednesday and I have looked at them once. I cannot leave them to the last minute! thats just utter stupidity…but why am I not attempting them?
ARGH
Woke up this morning with weird anxiety!
Enigmatic - I like your suggestion of sitting down when I have time and sorting things out I am going to do that over a weekend this month!
I am pretty organised. I know exactly where each and every thing I own is in the house or at work. Sometimes I keep things in stupid places but at least I know where everything is..
