anil bhai, would u be saying the same if we did not see misbah's innings?
of course I would have. We played two tournament favourites (SL and AUS) and beat them like professionals. So many of the players dont have any experience at international level and yet they were outstanding.
It would have been easy to hang your head when we were 77-6 but it was NOT misbah alone who fought. Yasir, Sohail tried their best too.

and the players who have international experience were not outstanding. there are issues with the team that need to be solved. Now are they as bad as in windies..no, but there is room for improvement.
we dont have the mental strength and toughness that is needed in tense situations
^ ofcourse theres room. we need openers like always, and we need a little more variety in our pacers. in an ODI i dont think yaser arafat would do well.
but we already have a noticeably improved side, fielding, bowling, and even batting wise. our bowling/fielding especially is extremely good, given that we are the only side I can think of that wasnt killed by the opposition in any game.

Not denying that. And When Lawson took over as coach, thats the first thing he pointed out. But we cannot possibly expect him to change that in span of one tourney but I am quite positive that as long as the core of this team stays together, we will be in good shape in coming tournaments and series.
I don't think this tournament shows us whether we have a good team or not. The good points are; we have a captain that can lead (don't know about his performance in test), great find in tanvir and misbah...Umer Gul grew up as a bowler. Rest will be decided in upcoming tour.
In the end, this was tullay bazi at best except of some inngs. Test and One Day cricket is another thing.
Yes we took the match till the last over and there was difference of one shot between both the teams however there is no denying that Pakistan could have won that game comfortably had we not choked in the middle. I would blame younis khan for the choas in the middle. It was a pressure game and he along with Afridi couldn't respond the the pressure situation which demanded some sensible cricket. Full credit to Misbah for his courageous innings.
life goes on, great performance, gave me something to smile and be happy about after a long time, losing by 5 runs is nothing to hang your hat at, we lost but they'll remember they were in a fight.

Agreed to a certain extent. We could've easily won the game given the target and we do need to shore up our middle order. But i wouldn't name names as to who cost us the game; we win as a team and we lose as a team. The guys who got out cheaply are pakistanis and the guys who performed well are paksitanis.

true saby..
I must say that after the windies slap, had not expected Pakistan to do so well..or India for that matter really.
I am glad that pak has shown that they can do as well or better without egotistical punk asses like akhter
It seems for the first time we have players who are proud to play for Pakistan.
We can go over ifs and buts the whole day, but in the end we lost, but I'm sure we'll learn so much from this loss and it will benefit our young cricketers no end.
I still hate Younis Khan... what kind of idiot is he?
Actually, change in pak team's captaincy has given new hope and has brought back old enthusiasts who were driven/scared away by long bearded mullah players.
Looks like there is still some hope for Pak cricket team.
So proud of our country!

Agreed. Shoaib Malik's captaincy was a breath of fresh air. He took pro-active decisions and played crucial innings as well (barring final)
Misbah has cemented his place in the middle order and Inzi will find it very hard to play another test for Pakistan.
Sohail Tanvir, if he can develop an indipper for right handers he is going to be around for a long time.
I totally agree that Shoib's captaincy was breath of fresh air. He did awsome job. He marshalled his resources very well.
Communication is still an issue with him. I wish he didnot use 'All muslim' word in his speech. It doesnt reflect good. He could have said 'All fans of Pakistan' instead.
Overall great guy with great potential.
Almost everyone - even on the internet, i bet like 500 emoney :S
but now i lost it all :(
i want to cry and hit that guys (who played a very homosexual shot in the end) head on the wall!
