Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

Lagta hay hamaray great Sadar Sahib key Sadarat ko bachanay kay liye PM ko qurbani daini he paray gi :cobra:

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

Added to that..the Parliament that never asks the PM..
did they ask abt all the corruption of the govt.?

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

Are the opposition benches are part of Parliament or it is consist of PPP only?

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

How many else u think need to be fired going by this yard stick ..... i guess a whole lot in this country ..... it would be a lot easier to identify PPL working as per the costitution coz they aren't many left of them

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

He was picked to be a PM for that precise reason. Zardari wanted yes man who would not challenge his authority. He is/was Shokut Aziz...a powerless PM.

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

Prime minister is answerable to the parliament but he is meeting his boss (Asif Bhutto Zardari) before the National assembly meeting...

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

Sometimes it helps not to be so myopic!

IK for his part has already said this

I would say that an APC (all parties conference) should be held ASAP in which all the major players incl. government and opposition leaders should send a strong message loud and clear to the military that any adventurism on their part would be strongly resisted by everyone regardless of their political differences

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

I am not saying that the establishment is not supporting IK (they probably are) but to suggest that his rising popularity is only due to the establishment is like *khud apni naakaamiyon par parda dalna.

*Every sensible person should support IK at the moment if only to break the current corrupt (PPP-PML-N) status quo

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

http://www.geo.tv/GeoDetail.aspx?ID=31130Gilani will remain prime minister: Law Minister Maula Bux ChandioISLAMABAD: Law Minister Maula Bux Chandio said Monday that Yousuf Raza Gilani will remain the prime minister of Pakistan.

Chandio further said that members of parliament would accompany Prime Minister Gilani when he appears before the Supreme Court on January 19.

“All conspiracies against the parliament will fail” Chandio said.

Commenting on the call by opposition parties to call early elections the Law Minister said that the government would announce a schedule when need be.

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

Is Gillani answerable to Supreme Court of his country?

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

Only if IK sings assi qaidi takht-e-lahore day.

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

I just read mr. Gilani has offered to step down ...he said he would even appear before the supreme court on jan 19.

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

Commonsense should prevail and all parties concerned esp. the judiciary and army should exercise restraint. The next elections will be held (most likely) by Nov 2012 so they should let this government & parliament complete their term.

It's a matter of principle for me
The military should always remain subservient to the elected civilian government however bad and incompetent

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

well said GoldenAsif!! ... its just a matter of few more months ... let them finish their term!

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

Please suggest how judiciary should show the constraint?

They issue verdict and govt goes in opposite direction, they declare MQM+ANP+AMAN COMMITTEE responsible for mass murders in Karachi and advice govt to file reference against the murderers next thing govt do is embrace them as ally... Judiciary ask them to bring Mushy back for Akbar Bugti case, govt simply ignores it, Judiciary orders govt to takeover the Shahzad Farm property of Mushy, Govt facilitate the X-Dictator to transfer the ownership of the property... Judiciary ask govt to investigate the NICL scam, govt reply with embracing the Q-League and then creating hurdle in the investigation... and list is loooooooooooooooooooooooooong... now please tell us, what else judiciary should do, after being called names, after being called conspirator and everything else??? i would love to know what should they do, wait for govt to end their tenure? and then what, the new govt will copy the same???

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

So you mean President & PM are free to do any thing?
Judiciary should not take any action against them ?
Gailani was nothing before becoming PM but now he is billionaire and you are saying don't ask any question from him ?

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

You cannot have different yardsticks for different people. After such an inflammatory statement by ISPR, Kayani and Pasha would have been tried under atricle 6 or atleast been dismissed in most civilised countries (and I absolutely agree with Firenze there..)
We don’t have to look too far. In India the army is firmly under civilian control (and their politicians are no less corrupt IMO)

The army should act within it’s domain. They should always remain subservient to civilian rule. It is not the job of COAS to be telling an elected PM (however bad and incompetent) or dictating to the judiciary (as happened in 1993 when NS was dismissed) what they should and should n’t be doing. Let the people decide their fate at the next election as happens in most countries

Has any corrupt general ever been tried for any past misdemeanours (and there are many)? Our military exercises just way too much control and pokes its nose in things which are none of their business

I don’t support Zardari, Gilani, Sharifs or Chaudharies etc. but politicians do have a point when they say that they have atleast spent some time in jail in the past. Name one general who has been held accountable for anything so far?

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

:smack2:
There is no use of crying over split of milk. Forget the past and give chance to courts to see all current corrupt ppl.

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

^ that should incl. corrupt generals too :)

Re: I am only answerable to the Parliament: PM Gilani

I said in another thread that I would (reluctantly) support judiciary dismissing a corrupt and incompetent elected government but only if it (SC) acted with complete impartiality - I consider it an undesirable but (still) lawful and sometimes necessary step (cf. talaq) and *still much better than the alternative *(a military take over, because when these guys seize power they don't just come in for a few months, they stay in power for a decade or more each time!! - but that even did not happen in 1993. NS was removed by the then judiciary (under pressure from the army) which I cannot support

The SC has every right to hold the government accountable but they should not be seen to be imparting selective justice (under pressure from others). NRO cases should be revisited but so should corruption cases against others incl. NS and the legendary loan defaulters the Chaudhries

And as already highlighted by Decent, Shamraz etc.
