This idiot most probably brought the shame to country (2nd time by the way) because he wanted to win the game for personal reason i.e to show that he has in it and he should be made captain.
He has shown from time to time (by his TV/media interviews) that he is member of herd/team who is waiting to take his own captain down whenever he gets a chance and this time his lust of power/captaincy made him to do the thing that brought the shame to country.
