Hi,I have been on medication for underactive thyroid gland, referred to as hypothyroidism. The GP has prescribed me with 50mg Levothyroxine to take one daily before breakfast. I have been taking this medicine for a year now and have improved alot. i usedto feel really tired and dizzy before the treatment started.Howvere, I was fine until last night when I found out this illness can have affects on me conceiving and trying for BABY. I have read on various sites that this is the case. but has any guppies have any problems conceiving due to this illness? How did they deal with it? I knw miscarriages are common aswell due to the glands not functioning properly.I am really worried now because I would really like to have a family one day.Help!!!
Re: hypothyroidism and pregnancy
I dealt with this issue, amongst others, but my thyroid was likely a bit better controlled because my dosage on the synthroid was not quite this high.
The doctor did a good job of monitoring the levels and made sure to adjust my dosage as required on a monthly basis.
Re: hypothyroidism and pregnancy
a good friend of mine was having trouble conceiving and had to go to an RE. Turns out she has just a thyroid issue. She began taking her pills regularily, and Alhumdulillah got pregnant naturallly and gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
Just continue to take your medication. You'll do fine.
My mom has thyroid issues, but she mashallah had 4 healthy kids :)
Re: hypothyroidism and pregnancy
When you're well regulated and get pregnant, there is usually nothing to worry about. You just need to make sure that you've regular appointments to update the dosage during pregnancy as your need for thyroid hormon increases.
I know two ladies, who have delivered healthy baby while being diagnosed hyperthyroid.
