Say Zardari and Sharif are both knocked out (Note: I am not condone murder/terror here) of politics, who do you think has the best chance of being elected as the next PM of Pakistan?
Serious responses only. My goal is not to talk about Zardari/Sharif but rather see who stands the best chance to having the top job.
Mods: If there sufficient interest and enough names are given we can turn it into a poll.
^ I doubt Bilawal, because he lacks the charisma and shrewdness his mother had. The guy cant even speak in Urdu and has no will to learn the language and I think the PPP with its rifts and internal breakups is at a point where they are waiting for a change. With the way things are going, it looks like Zardari will be ousted and Gillani will be the one to make this move.
you can't really compare..real leaders are products of moments and that applies universally..20 years ago Nawaz Sharif could barely string two sentences together in public..similarly Bhutto was a very insecure speaker and far from a rabble rouser till 1966. BB took years to perfect her speeches in urdu but that didn't stop her from attracting a million people in 1986 and 2007. Similarly a family name can only take one so far..Maudoodi's son could not achieve anything neither could Nawabzada Nasrullah;s son..
A person’s character is best judged once he is pitted against odds. Bilawal had to endure the loss of his mother when he so needed her to be around him to pamper him, to love him and to see him grow. Yet he lost it all in the flash of a second. It was at this crucial moment in his life that there emerged a leader out of him in whose voice echoed the words of his mother “democracy is the best revenge”.
..
This was not the first time that I had met Bilawal, Bakhtawar or Assefa, yet there was something different about Bilawal tonight. This young man standing on the podium, talking to the members of the party, formulated by his grandfather and nourished by his mother had come a long way from the libraries of Christ Church, Oxford. Today, he seemed like an embodiment of perfection, ideally suited to hold the reigns as a true heir to the legend of the party; a people’s man, a true Bhutto.
..
There was resolve, commitment, resoluteness but most importantly, there was recognition and acceptance of the fact that promises made had not entirely been fulfilled yet and it was the right of the people of Pakistan to point out the anomalies of the government in addressing the needs of the people.
This coming from the chairman of the party that is in government is a big accolade and surely, we Pakistanis are not used to such true self analysis and accountability.
..
This young man has the potential, the capability and the courage to lead this party and this country forward. As I listened to Bilawal with tears in my eyes, I felt hope, hope that I had long forgone since the Shahadat of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
..
It is time to reconcile with the fact that the next generation of the Bhuttos is ready, ready to take on from where their predecessors left and when Bilawal says, “Khoon chaihay, khoon dein gay; sir chahiyay, sir dein gay, jaan chahiyay, jaan dein gay,” you know that this young man really means it because his name ‘Bilawal’ means “one without equal”.
ravage, days before zia hung bhutto, he used to go and salute him call him sir and said how fast he'll make sure bhutto is back as the PM. you should read fox and the leapord... remember how I was right on the money back when I told you the CJ would be reinstated and thats exactly what happened and you never heard from salman taseer again. Things are falling in place and zardari has become a huge liability and will be taken out of the picture soon. And when hes gone, trust me, bilawal will be in no position to come back and become the chairperson of the party.
And yes, you are right, that article is disgusting.
hope you're right. i know that zardari has badly damaged the political capital of Bilawal (which should never have existed in the first place). whether it is sufficient to deny him his throne, we'll see.
I know It is not going to be but I do hope PPP elects the other Bhutto as its party head …
…Fatima Bhutto
Like Benazir she has loads of charisma. Like Zardari she is also very intelligent. Like Bilawar she is well educated
Unlike other bhuttos, however, she calls a spade a spade- and seems to have the best of Pakistan's interests at heart.
Plus she will help restore Pakistan's battered image in the international community :D
I am sorry but she has lost her immage
Fatima Bhutto, the fiery poet-journalist niece of slain former Pakistani premier Benazir Bhutto, may be dating Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney.
“Tricky long distance, Pakistan-to-US dating logistics aside, we think the two would make a nice couple. I mean, just look at her CV. She’s a far cry from Clooney’s last girlfriend... cocktail waitress and Fear Factor contestant, Sara Larson,” said a report in American tabloid National Enquirer.
Clooney and Fatima, who lives with her stepmother and half brother in a plush suburb of Karachi, met at an international conference last year.
“He’s still out there with his usual assortment of Hollywood eye-candy hanging from his arm. But George insists those days could be coming to an end if Fatima wants to take their relationship to the next level and spend some serious time with him in the US,” the report said.

Don't take "National Enquirer" news so seriously, by the way Benazir didn't lose it despite her college/party days so well known around, being considered a good BJ'er and what not didn't stop her from becoming PM. Fatima, in contrast, is an (really) educated lady.
As for topic, I don't think Aitzaz can make it to top slot, more likely Amin Fahim.
